  1. Our local grocery store is running a promotion on Carnival gift cards. For every $50.00 increment you get 20 cents off a gallon of gas. The store sells the cards in increments of 50 100 500...

My question is.. Has anyone been successful applying multiple cards to the payment and also using a credit card to the balance?

  2. After the tour of the kids club we headedback to our room to shower and get dressed for dinner. Each night thekids and I dressed up for dinner. I dress up daily for work and the kids dressup often when we go out to dinner and for school mass. I think I havemore dress clothing than casual wear.

Since we had yourtime dining my goal was to eat early enough to attend a show later thatevening. Once we were dressed we headed to Horizon's one of the maindining rooms, located on deck 3 aft. We were told by a woman standingbehind the desk that we needed to go up deck 5 to check in for dinner, oncechecked in we would then need to return to the Horizon’s on deck 3 to be seatedfor dinner. All three of us made the hike back up to deck 5. The YTDcheck in area was located adjacent to the counter of the ShakeSpot. We checked in and headed back down stairs. If you are wearinghigh heels as I was beware. I never understood why we had to go up to deck 5 each night to check in for YTD.

Here are the menus from the Horizons MDR fromour first evening on board.

The tables were really close to each other. We go some really cold stares from a woman that clearly did not want us sitting next to her. My children we quiet and well behaved. Yet she kept clearing her throat and rolling her eyes the entire time. My son was uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I said to him loud enough for her to hear that we had just as much of a right to be there as she did. Our waiter was very professional and warm. I put in our entire order at once so that dinner service would move along quickly. This is something that I also do at home when dining out with my 5 year old.

Ellington was actually so tired that she fell asleep after a few bites of food. I let her sleep at the table while my son and I finished up dinner and dessert.

I have pictures of the food that I cannot seem to upload.

I had the skirt steak, my daughter had a pizza that was very large for a kids portion, and my son had chicken. Everything was tasty. I also had the warm chocolate cake for the 1st time. It was just as good as everyone claims it is.

We headed back to our room. It was only 8:30 or so and my daughter and I were in for the night. So much for the show that I wanted to see. I called myself resting for a few moments, only to wake up and find that it was now day two.

  4. Prior to sailing, I posted on John Healds Facebook page about how I was finally going to sail the Vista, and missing it last year due to the hurricane. They messaged me back and asked for my cabin number, and they will try to send me a little surprise. I figured that was what the spa gift card was, but this just showed up at my door...

I have always wanted a genuine ship on a stick!

  5. As a solo cruiser, I often over hear other's conversations. Not eavesdropping, but incidental over hearing. People talk about some crazy stuff.

Also, the people I see over and over again, I like to give them names, like "hairy chest dude" or "tattoo guy" I'm sure they probably refer to me as "nipple ring guy" or who even knows what else... Anyway, just things that I notice and ponder upon...

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

  6. Purchased my cheers package using gift cards. Total for seven day cruise was $402. I used discount cards purchased from AARP and Verizon rewards and one card from Carnival. Total cost to me $370. Not bad. Also scored a $100 Carnival Corp card using Amex points which I'll put on my sign and sail card.

    Via the website??

  7. Last year I sail on the Vista repo cruise out of NYC. Last year you could not purchase Cheers on the phone or online. Did the same thing you did. Manager sent an email, brought on broad went to purchase Cheers and was told that could not honor the pre boarding price. Of course I was annoyed was told that nothing could be done. Some times customer service people will say and do anything to get you off the phone. I was SOL. I do hope that what happened to me doesn't happen to you. Good luck

    Ugh!!!

  8. Its most likely due to a large number of people try to beat the deadline. Sadly most customer service people are like robots. Since you can't order cheers using gift cards on the phone (online only for cheers using gift cards) they haven't clue how to fix it. Beerman is correct resolution department is the way to go.

I was told that you couldn't pay with gift cards at all![emoji853]

Here is what Carnival is doing for me- A manager sent an email to me stating that the will honor the 2017 Cheers price for my 2-3-2018 cruise. I will have to apply the gift cards at check in.

  9. Anyone else having issues with Carnival’s website? I have been trying since yesterday to purchase the Cheers package with two Carnival gift cards. I seem to be in some sort of a “loop”. I keep getting an error that is requiring I enter a credit card number. (My two gift cards total the entire amount). Now the site will not let me check out....

I called Carnival last night and they could not help me....
