  1. Call me a Big spender too I got the plastic tag covers about six years ago or 12 or so cruises.

We have checkin in some heavy rains. But with cable loop and plastic cover all luggage have always made it to the cabin. Oh yes we printed them on 8 1/2”X 11 copy paper. Easy peasy

    why make things difficult?

We enjoy dining in Blu.  On our January Apex cruise in Aqua we found that the Infinity Veranda was just not for us as we enjoy sitting and reading on the balcony.  Our next two cruises are on Edge class ships, and we have opted for Sunset Veranda staterooms.  While on the Apex, we spent one night in Tuscany and enjoyed the experience.  If we go on any ship other than an Edge Class, we will book Aqua Class.

Infinite Veranda will be on the new RCL Icon class, all the new ships with Celebrity and Royal will have then on them

You knew It before you sailed and if you didn’t know you should have read all the post on the subject since the Edge and Apex where new. If you want a balcony buy a suite.
IMHO thes cabins want be going away the cruise lines like the lability of closeing the window anytime the choose.

I think the couple posted so you would watch there YouTube video, yes the subject has been beaten to death. But it is what makes Cruise Critic So very good.

Wow.  Sorry to hear of your experience.     Sometime the initial chaos can set the theme for the experience.   I would definitely have a discussion with the Hotel Director.   As a guest in one of the upper suites they will definitely be stopping by anyway at some time to say hello.    Quickest way is either a phone call or just drop off an Attention to Detail card at the front desk and say you would like a chat with them.

The  Hotel Director is in charge of The Butlers, The Retreat Hosts, all of the Restaurant and Bar Managers, Housekeeping etc.    They will make sure things are corrected immediately and will be happy you have brought it to their attention.

The good news is I get to do a do over in April on the Apex I expect things to go I little better.

I was on the Jan 30th sailing as well.  I was one of the first people to arrive around 10:30 am.  When I went in the terminal there was a sign to the left that said "Retreat Check In".  This is where I walked.  There was an escalator on the right.

See that escalator way on the far right side that is where I was directed up now you know how I missed that. But it doesn’t explain why the staff didn’t know where to direct me once I ask about suite entrance. I stand by what I said earlier Poor Signage

Sorry to hear you are not off to a great start.  At pier 25 there is a lighted sign that says "Suite Check In".  Next time walk towards the sign and if someone tells you to go a different line,  you can smile and keep walking or politely say you will go to the suite line but thank you.  If it doesn't matter, then it will not matter that I go to the suite check in vs regular check in.

I stand behind Luminae is overrated by people on CC and other social media sites.  Breakfast is better than dinner, imo.  Service is good but no better than I had in the MDR.  I'm confused as to why it's closed for lunch on port days.  On my last cruise there were 4 ports.  Luminae was closed for lunch more than it was opened.

People have been itching to take off masks.  It's not surprising no one is wearing one.  At Strat up Celebrity did not require masks.  They became required during Omicron.

Sorry when we checked in No Signage was up yet 11:00AM staff seemed confused

    Literally and figuratively.

Happy to be on board. Second time in a Villa and it is very nice. Retreat sundeck has been very busy, except this afternoon when it was too windy in the back. Luminae has been disappointing at lunch and dinner,  breakfast was fine. Had a good dinner in one of the main dining rooms - fairly empty, great service and good food. Also had a nice meal at the steakhouse tonight and a good lunch in the buffet. I was told 1300 and 1600 on board. Service throughout has been  perfect.  Staff could not be nicer, kinder, more professional.  Arrival was messy - despite my suite and having the Priority placard I was directed to regular checkin. When I said I should be in Retreat checkin I was told it doesn't matter, and then stood around as staff discussed who wanted to see a Villa suite and escort me on board. It was actually funny listening to this conversation,  but I finally gave up and walked on. I had everything on my phone other than passport and vaccine card, and it took a while to show them everything.  You stand on line, no desk. Messy.

The figurative part. I knew that masks wouldn't be required but I thought some people would wear them. Very very few wear them.  I get that this is the new rule, but I didn't realize how after 2 years it would be so hard for me to be in unavoidable crowds with maskless people.  And that's the purpose of my thread. I wasn't mentally prepared for the elevators, the maskless children, the maskless people sitting next to me in the casino (despite the rules).  Also other hygiene reminders out the window - no person with hand sanitizer, no reminder to use it on boarding.  Saw one haz mat team cleaning a room and about 100 new hires who boarded in Fort Lauderdale on a familiarization tour of ship.  Mask wearing among staff very good with many double masked.

When we checked in at Port Everglades on the Edge I ask when going into the building is this for Suite guests.at the top of the escalator I asked again after going the x-ray machine I ask I don’t think this was the Suite line. Oh yes follow them when they tried to seat us upstairs I started looking for someone that looked like they knew what was going and I wasn’t going to stop till I found. Once on the ship they said that never happens. I told her she couldn’t say that anymore because the staff didn’t have a clue that was January 30th on the Edge.

Quick passenger count update:  The current rumor onboard is that our sailing was expected to have about 870 guests, but that almost 200 (!!!!) of those may not actually sail due to positive pre-cruise Covid test results and flight cancellations on the east coast.

I’ll see if I can get an opportunity to confirm that info with someone in charge/in the know and will report back.  Given how late hitting those factors are it may be a day or 2 before anyone can give an accurate guest count.

Stay warm and safe out there East Coast followers!

I ask the waiter at breakfast for a passenger count this week he said paperwork shows 670 with 1000 crew not a bad way to go.

I know that the ships have been either blocking off a portion of a deck or the whole deck for either quarantine cabins or crew accommodations to space the crew out. I sailed Apex last week and deck 6 was completely restricted to crew only. I am sailing Apex again next month and we have an S3 suite on deck 6 (end unit with porthole on end of balcony) that I picked out on purpose because I liked the balcony and location. I fear that I am going to board the ship only to be notified that my cabin has been changed due to this issue and I will not be satisfied with my new assignment. I know that I am in an S3 so in Celebrity's mind, any S2 or S1 is an upgrade but for me, it is not. Being moved to a Deck 12 S3 or an middle S3 would not be acceptable and they are the only 3 cabins currently showing open within the same category.

Has this happened to anyone else recently and if so, did Celebrity reach out beforehand to allow you a choice of new location or did you have to accept their new cabin?

If you did get moved without notification and were not happy, did Celebrity have any offer for you to make you feel whole?

I know the cruise line can do essentially do whatever they want whenever they want as part of the cruise contract but I am asking for others that have experienced the same issues recently, especially with the deck 6 S3 cabins.

I called Celebrity and asked to move to a cabin of my choice (based on the available openings) because I fear this cabin move is forthcoming. I was told that I can only move now if I pay the difference in cabin pricing or I can wait and see what happens.

    What to do?

I guess they could always let you go to your cabin, the put you in quarantine until the cruise is over.

    why don’t you cancel

Which is really unfair to those of us who booked cruises under the safety promises at the time.  I'm not sure I would have booked had I known they were going to change this.  They should be forced to abide by what they promised at the time of booking.

Didn’t you read the contact you agreed to before boarding it States they can change anything about your cruise, and you agreed to abide by it.

you should really those contacts in the future.
