Transatlantic sailings must be big money makers or no? I was thinking they would be because you are stuck on the ship and most likely buying all kinds of stuff, food, drinks and all kinds of stuff.

You might be tempted to shop, but when I TA with a drinks package they don’t make much money from me.

Lots of short taster cruises out of Southampton which would be fairly easy for you to get to, P and O have them all year round with the other cruise lines having occasional ones.
We love transatlantics but I wouldn't recommend one for a first cruise, my worry would not be so much the weather but if you actually like cruising, it's a long time to be stuck on a ship if you hate it. Saying that, on every TA we've taken, we've met people who were on their first cruise so people do it all the time, luckily all the ones we've spoken to were enjoying it.

You don’t get the real feel of a cruise atmosphere on a sampler cruise you get the feel of a booze cruise weekender that could taint a view of a ship unfairly

It depends on time of year, I have done 2 TAs one on Voyager of the Seas and in the Independence of the seas. Both sailings eastbound in April both like mill pond crossings no motions felt. They are amazing value 30% less per night than any other itinerary. We didn’t do it for our first we did the Baltic States which is a good starter and a little cheaper than the med’. I would recommend a TA as a first many of options for port stops including Caribbean and the halfway point at the Azores.

Is anyone else having trouble logging in? When I enter my details a “need help” pop up appears onscreen over the log in button, which stops me from logging in.

Glad that MSC have clearly defined the policy, I am thinking positively I have booked a TA from Brazil 2019 in YC and was wondering the drinks choice sounds like from the responses above it will be a deluxe crossing 🥂[emoji483][emoji484]

Only issue we had on Deck 8 aft cabin was soot and lots of it, cabin steward struggled to keep the balcony clean on our Transatlantic this spring we ended up not using it all crossing.

We did a TA in an aft cabin on deck 8 on Independence this spring and couldn't use the balcony for soot, our cabin steward cleaned it down daily to no avail. Might be better now that they have fitted the new scrubbers.

We love going on cruises and we work very hard to save the money to go on our once a year cruise. We're diamond, but very seldom use the Diamond lounge because we usually have someone with us that wouldn't be allowed to go with us. We are the ones that look like every cruise is our first because we can't wipe the smile off our faces. We're still in awe of the ship, even if it's a ship we've been on 2 or three times before. We are taking lots of photos and wearing the dreaded lanyard. We are still amazed at the job the crew does to make our much anticipated vacation special. I'm always up early and would never think of admonishing anyone from the crew getting a cup of coffee. We listened, on our July cruise, to a table next to us with four young people (related) berate the waiter and asst waiter, the head waiter and complain about how the food was prepared...EVERY NIGHT. We were SO uncomfortable just listening to it that we almost stopped eating in the MDR. We made sure we told these folks what a great job they were doing and apologized for the rude foursome. We also sent cards to Royal mentioning the outstanding job these MDR folks did. They endured every insult with such grace. When I see some of the cabins, as I walk down the hall and the doors are open, I'm horrified for the cabin stewards. It says something about your character (or lack of) when you treat people in the service industry poorly. There's no excuse for not respecting them. None.
Well said Griffey, your experience and attitude is just the same as my wife and me. It appals me the way some passengers think that throwing a few dollar bills excuses the rudeness and disrespect they show the hard working staff.

People are ultimately selfish and will book multiple options only to cancel many bookings closer to travel date, thus lowering choice, travel agents tour operators and airlines will factor in this and adjust up their prices accordingly. Holiday insurance is available to cover genuine reasons to cancel.

About to have my first Cunard experience, first cruise in a while without a drinks package; will I be able to drink like a Trappist Monk or forced to drink like Methodist Minister?
Couple of direct questions how much is a pint and secondly an average glass of wine?

Captain Rob, I asked via Twitter for an email response, they did send me one out as others have posted exact wording $10 + 18%. If it isn't honoured I will padlock myself to the customer services desk until it is.
