  1. As someone who has sailed in 9502 on the Dawn and have sailed on the Gem in 10664, I would say stay where you are.  Yes the balcony on 9502 is much larger but you can't really use it when sailing.   WAY TOO windy.   At night you have to keep the drapes closed as it interferes with the Bridge.  And yes if they want to offer you an upgrade to the Owner's Suite, jump on it.

There's nothing better than the Suite Life

I have booked a 2BR villa in the Haven on the Gem.  I've seen where there are some staterooms that are not physically located in the Haven but have some kind of limited access to Haven facilities.  I don't understand this as my only Haven experience is on Epic, not a smaller ship.

There are 4 Owner's Suites on the Gem on Deck 9 & 10 in the front of the ship and they have complete access to the Haven.  There are also 2 Garden Villas and 2 Deluxe Owner's Suites (above the Garden Villas), making a total of 18 cabins having access to the Haven Courtyard.  Remember there is NO Haven Restaurant or Bar on the Gem.

  3. We just got back last week from the Escape.  We stayed in cabin 9318.  We had one extra guest with us but I spoke to the cabin steward and she told me that the couch pulls out even more to accommodate 2 people.

If you have any other questions please ask

  4. Hi,  Yesterday I received an email that my bid was accepted for an Owner's Suite on the Gem this Saturday..  I bid the exact difference in the cost to book the OS suite H3 and what I paid for my original H5.    I also bid on the GV.  Both bids were in the "Poor" range.   One GV 14000 and one OS 9504 were open.  I was given OS 10504.  I guess 10504 won the bid for the GV.  I would have called my PCC earlier and changed cabins but I would have lost my OBC of $400.00.  It all worked out in the long term.  I got a great cabin and still kept my OBC.

Looks like nasty weather for our cruise on Saturday.

  5. Deck 16 is better as it it the deck that the Haven is on. All you need to do it go out your cabin and into the Haven pool area.

We sailed last May in the Haven with our daughter and granddaughter. Very nice to be right there. We are sailing Sunday in an aft-haven suite on deck 9. It's a long walk to the Haven this time.

    Hope this helps

  6. I am cruising on the Breakaway out of NYC in June. With the new boarding procedures, is there a point to getting to the port early? Ideally I would LOVE to get a Vibe pass. Obviously, Haven, Platinum, etc will have their chance at it first. So, I guess my question, should I show up early hoping to get on early enough or not even waste my time and sleep in that day?

The Haven passengers really don't opt for a Vibe pass as they have their own private sundeck on the other side of the ship.

  7. Speaking from experience of having stayed in both the GV on the Gem for 11 days and in the Haven on the Breakaway. I would say to pick the GV on the Gem. Destination doesn't seem to matter when you're in the GV.

Yes, the Haven Restaurant is great but there's NOTHING like the treatment of staying in the GV. When you ask for something in the GV, the Concierge will say, " You're in the Garden Villa". One of our friends who stayed with us only drank caffeine free diet Coke and they didn't have any on the ship. But after we stopped at the 1st port it appeared in the room.

You also have access to the Haven on the Gem while staying in the GV.

    Go with the GV

  8. Hi,

Which would you choose? This is an adults only cruise and only 2 people to a room. Thanks!

We have stayed in both. The spa suite is a nice suite with the Jacuzzi tub in your room is nice. We used the Spa Pass on most days of the cruise for a few hours in the morning. It got very crowded later.

It was nice being in the Haven for our last cruise. You have to take into consideration the cost between the two suites. If they are close to the same, then the Haven is the better choice. You won't go wrong with either suite.

  9. Is the 2 bedroom suite one of the H4 2 bedroom family villa and is the private deck shared by multiple suites?

I actually do have a deck 10 aft penthouse currently booked so maybe I should just keep what I have.

Yes they are the 2 bedroom family villas. The balconies are private as the luxury bathroom is between each of them. If you look at a picture of the Gem, the dark shaded area is the bathroom.

The private sundeck is for all ALL Haven guests.

We have stayed in all the suites on NCL and the Haven is the best. The Garden Villa is the best. Sailing the Breakaway next month in the Haven.

    Hope this helps,

    Monty

  10. I've been following the recent thread about this week's GSC cancellation. I am wondering if an overnight in Nassau is the default "plan b" for when GSC needs to be skipped.

With an upcoming cruise on this itinerary, just wondering what to expect. I wouldn't be too excited about an overnight in Nassau, but should I get used to the idea?

It has all to do with weather and winds. Mother Nature controls the when they can tender at GSC.

If Nassau has an open pier, then you'll sail to Nassau. NCL has to pay Nassau and it's good for their economy.

We sail next week and the weather for next Wednesday is 30% chance of showers 82 and N winds at 10mph. if it doesn't rain we should be able to tender. Then again, how can you believe an forecast that far away.

We had to do an overnight in Nassau on the Dawn and we slept on the balcony. Great music from Senor Frogs.

    Happy Cruising

  11. We are in Florida right now and just got announced that the stop at GSC is cancelled...Third time it was canceled in a row for the Breakaway!

We are now due to dock at Nassau tomorrow at 1 pm.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Forums mobile app

Just checked weather for GSC for today 50% chance of rain 79deg & wind from the N at 22mph. You have everything against going there.

Enjoy Nassau, you'll hear Senor`Frogs hopping tonight.

    Happy Cruising

  12. Dear Cruises,

In December I will be on the breakaway in a haven suite. I understand that haven guests have to pay extra for the vibe pass. But is it really worthy to buy additional passes or does the haven have an outside area like the vibe. Where would be the added value?

Second, is the spa worth the extra $$$ or is the haven nice and calm enough?

    Thank you

Think of Vibe as the Haven for Non-Haven passengers. Ours is included in our fare! We have our own bar as Haven guests, our own wait staff, and inside & outside sun deck, hot tubs & pools & access to getting food served. We have stayed in the Haven on other ships and it's great. We will be staying in a Spa/Haven Suite in November. A pas to the Spa is included. I'll let you know how the spa is. I've heard the it's very relaxing.

    Happy Cruising,

    Monty

  13. Hi Jackie,

Just wanted to let you know that I wasn't visited by the "Mermaid' Fairy, but a very nice "Upsell" Fairy for our upcoming cruise.

We finally have done it. Cabin 14500 on the Gem. 11 days in the Garden Villa. Our friends that traveled with us last January are joining us in the GV. A Once-In-a- Lifetime cruise.

And I have the perfect charm for the Mermaid.

    Happy Cruising,

    Monty

  14. logcabin,

I was offered the Garden Villa on the Dawn for our December 1, 2005 10 day cruise for $17,500 for 6 people. That was on October 9th for a December 1st cruise. Probably would have been lower if closer to the sailing date.

While on the cruise we were talking to Claudio, the Concierge, and he told us that the Garden Villa was booked for the next cruise and that a German couple paid full price for it, $26,000. Most of the times it is only sold when an upsell is given.

We kept our Owner's Suite and had a great cruise!

    Happy Sailing,

    Monty
