  1. Cruise director said ship was at about 75% occupancy.  Can’t comment on the buffet as we did not go to buffet.  Shows were hit or miss.  Loved the last headliner, Elton John tribute.  Most of the shows up until the Elton John were sparsely attended, less than 1/2 full.  Might have been more to do with folks not wanting to be masked.  Masks were required in Solstice Theatre, Celebrity Central and the casino.  Casino was not crowded at all. The only not so great experience was the Seafood Shack lunch at Tuscan Grill.  Service was not great at all, and it was served all at the same time on one tray.   Tuscan Grill regular dinner was phenomenal though.  I would not do the Seafood Shack again.  Martini Bar was a hot spot and lively, we visited several times😆.  Cafe El Baccio was also very good but could get kind of crowded.  Go with the mind set that you will enjoy and have fun and you will.  We really had very few “negatives”.

Just pulled the trigger on 2 Junior Suite cruises sailing in 2022!  I had been resisting for a LONG time but when I did the math (Both were 8 day Southern Caribbean - One was a repositioning) that totaled up to 32+32 points (64)  The price was good for a JS - what's not to like with THAT math.

We are on the same repositioning!  JS price was excellent,

I think with reducing the window to 2 days the cruise lines are going to have to start to consider making rapid testing available at the port. It might be worth it even if they charge a nominal fee.

    Exactly.

You may be correct. I made an assumption since I did not see any mention of pricing, and the policy itself does not seem to do much. It does not replace travel insurance. In fact, it could get in the way of an insurance claim. If you get a FCC, the insurance company may consider that you have been compensated and refuse to pay.

I’d need more information than the web page gives before I’d consider it, especially if there is an additional fee. A good travel policy might be a better investment.

My thought exactly,  I read through my Travelguard policy last night again and based upon the blurb on the Princess site not sure it’s really needed.  I’d like to also fully read the terms and conditions of this COVID 19 protection program and what it costs.

I just googled it, and a link to the Princess page came up.

There is no cost, but it does not replace travel insurance. The assistance plan gives you FCC for unused portion of cruise, helps with testing, some medical, and helps you file insurance claims.

I’m not sure about that since my friend booked his last night and his Princess rep added it for a charge on top of the Princess Vacation Protection but she told him that they haven’t had their training on it yet!  That’s next week.  LOL.  I think I’ll call Princess after the holiday and hopefully there will be some more clarity.

  6. Just received typical Princess marketing email that mentioned the above.  Linked to this on Princess website:

This new policy within our Cruise with Confidence program provides reassurance if you are within 30 days of sailing, all the way through to disembarking from your cruise. It is designed to assist you if, as a result of being suspected of having or testing positive for COVID-19 or as a result of government travel restrictions put in place within 30 days of embarkation, you may be unable to travel to your cruise embarkation port, may be denied boarding, may be quarantined on board or disembarked early. COVID-19 Protection Program is available on all cruises sailing through December 31, 2021, for bookings made on or before September 30, 2021.

Cannot find anything about cost?  Does anyone have any more information on pricing or electing this?

  7. The day of the week makes a difference!  Don’t try it on Saturday or Sunday when there are significant number of large ships in FLL.  We came off Oasis in Miami 3 weeks ago and transferred to FLL for our return.  Mad house!  No seating anywhere, lines out doors, and so crowded that they would not take luggage and check you in if you had luggage until 2 hours before your flight.  On top of it all, some terminals are under construction so there was even less space!  Not a nice way to end a great cruise.

  8. We did a ships tour off Navigator in October 2018, and it was fantastic however we went from Cherbourg stop and we had choice of tour that did Omaha or the one that did Utah (the other American landing) and the museum there.  We did Utah and the Museum and easily the best excursion of our trip.  I’d say do the ships tour that resonates best with you.

I went over the pricing I found for our May Summit 2020 cruise on a related thread about Double Savings..hocus pocus?

Yet someone else posted a nice $400` savings for Summit in May.. but no way to compare what they started at???

Maybe  dh and I  need to take a class???

That was me!  To give you an idea, we started in Aqua class A1 cabin originally just about $3300, re priced with the Sail beyond dropped it to 3018 and added another perk.  Then yesterday with the double beyond sail it reprised down to 2618.
