  1. Were you able to buy your wine in San Juan? We are coming from Canada and don't want to bring it from here.

From what I remember in San Juan, there is a CVS by the cruise port. You can purchase some wine. I think I might grab some wine there depending on the selection. If not, I work in a wine a story and will bring my own.

  2. Is it worth it to get FTTF on my Carnival Fascination cruise for December 9. I currently have a 1PM check in time and wasn't sure when everything is usually ready since the ship leaves at night? For those who cruised on the ship without it, how early were your rooms ready when you boarded and when were your items dropped off to your room? What days are typically reserved for elegant nights?

  3. I have a bit OBC for my cruise on the Fascination. I was wondering about doing Cruise Cash and purchasing that for my cruise ahead of time. If I purchase my Cruise Cash in advance, do I still have to put another form of payment down or will my CC get applied to my account? If it doesn't get applied to my account, how much cash do I have to put on my account when checking in? I used to do card but I want to prepay and get everything taken care so I don't have to worry too much(my bank is very problematic with Bank Holds). I plan on using only my Cruise Cash for all drink, food, spa purchasing. Thanks again!

  4. Here is my review on the Valor from 2014, doing those same ports.

Since this is such a port heavy route, I started by just listing 2 or 3 options for each port and then going over those with my husband to figure out what we wanted to do.

Looking at the ports of call section on this site can give you up to date pricing.

We love this route and will be going for the 3rd time in January.

    Happy Cruising !

Thank you so much for this!

  5. Hey! You stole my "user" name....lol. I see you like the beach and shopping. May I suggest you go to the website "Trip Advisor" ...this is the sister site of Cruise Critic. Type in the Island and click on "things to do" Tons of excursions and beaches will pop up with reviews.

I saw your name and was like that person must love Champagne too! Thank you for that tidbit about TA!

  6. We Paid off our cruise for the Fascination Dec 9 and now we are like what do we do

We are late 20's females and trying to piece together what else to do. I like food and rum/wine tours because I use them for my wine/travel blog. I am cross checking carnivals and even viator's sites for different ideas. All recommendations welcomed!

  7. We are also going on this cruise in December. I chose it because of all the ports. My Husband has never cruised, hoping getting to see somewhere new everyday will make him want to do it again 😀. Were any excursions offered after disembarking in San Juan? We have a afternoon flight, and will have a little time to kill.

What day did you chose? We might be on the same cruise!

  8. Leaving for this cruise in 47 days (who’s counting?)... Staying at the Decanter Hotel in San Juan. Barbados- Boatyard St Lucia- Spencer Ambrose Land and Sea St Maarten- Bernard’s Island Tours

Once back to SJ, we are heading to Barrachina until our afternoon flight.

I’ll let you know how it all goes!

I can't wait to get your reviews. Please keep me updated on the ship to what you do!

  9. Just the religious types who insisted on holding hands for a prayer before dinner. Yeah we changed tables and they were offended. Haha not everyone believes in the Easter bunny.

This was my first table mates with my best friend for our cruise on the glory. We sat down for dinner and are all of our appetizers arrived they asked us to join hands for prayer. We had told them no thank you and we have began to eat and me and her were talking and they stared at us as if we committed a felony and was just complaining about how some people could eat their food without blessing it.

When we went to dinner the second night they saw us in line and was trying to talk to us about making sure we said our prayers before meal. Luckily, we met a couple in line and we decided that we were going to sit with them and they were are dinner buddies for the remainder of the cruise. We keep in touch but they cruise more and often joke about the experience. Now they had a fun experience with a couple that ate with them who was vegan or gluten intolerant, I can't remember but the entire time they picked with them about what food they(my new friends) ate and it wasn't vegan/gluten free. We bonded over our former tablemates that we had that was horrible.

  10. I did the glory for my first cruise and I thought it was absolutely amazing in December of 2015 for Eastern Caribbean. I love my porch so much that's why I was very happy to do Carnival Fascination and go back to

    San Juan

    Hello cruisers,

After a less than positive experience on the Conquest a few years ago, a group of approximately 20 of us (ages 40-65) are looking to return to Carnival in 2019. We're not sure if it will be an eastern or western Caribbean itinerary and have some decisions to make.

I know the Miracle is smaller and lacks some amenities in comparison, but would appreciate hearing about food, service and general experiences on Glory, Sunshine and Miracle.

    Thanks in advance,

    Carolyn

  11. My Spanish side can down maybe 1.5 bottles of wine by myself throughout the day. I am trying to think of how much I drank while I was at Breathless P.C this past April. When I mostly found a good rum drink, I had anywhere from 3-8 MBB and some wine. I figure since our cruise is port heavy it may not be good since we have 1 day at sea.

  12. So for our 12/9/18 cruise out of San Juan the both of us are wondering about doing the drink package or not. I drink a lot of wine and rum drunks and she does vodka sodas and rum. So far I don't know anybody who has bought the package personally so, I wanted to ask you all what have been your experiences good or bad. I know both of us have to get it.

  13. I enjoy the Fantasy Class ships in Carnival's fleet. Not so big, 2,600 passengers -- on some of the bigger ships, it feels like you are walking all day to get from one end of the ship to the other. Granted, the ship is older, but over the years it's had some make overs and has everything I'd want from a cruise ship, great food, entertainment, places to relax.

you could check out my review of the Carnival Ecstasy (https://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=589177) - similar ship.

Port culture is rather subjective. The people are always great. At some ports, not the ones on the Fascination, the vendors can get pretty aggressive (St. Lucia has a little - though, that may have changed after the hurricanes in St Thomas & St Maarten). I like to get out, away from the cruise port, to get a feel for the local community. If Sarafina in Marigot, St Martin is open go for some great french pastries.

    Enjoy!

    those pastries have me SOLD

  14. As you can see from my signature, the Fascination trip is the best trip I've taken (I love port days). Following is what I've done at the islands where the Fascination stops.

San Juan- we get a kick out of taking the ferry across the bay (50¢) and going to Bacardi / also like walking around Old Town

St. Thomas- Dollar Bus to red hook, ferry to St john, cab to trunk bay (beach & snorkel)

St. Maarten- Bernard's (three times-taking it again in April)

St. Kitts- Done both the train and Sir Walter Tours (the train is expensive, but worth doing once/if on a budget, go with Sir Walter)

St. Lucia-walked around town and hiked up to the governor's mansion

Barbados-walked around, then went to Copacabana Beach Club (our cab driver got us in with no cover)

I would recommend all of these. Have fun!

I am excited. How did you enjoy the cruise ship. I know one at sea day but I am just looking forwards to the sun, rum, and and finding more cruise friends! I also want to ask, what is the culture like in the ports. What are some of the best goodies to bring back home?
