  1. Last October was our first time on the Getaway. We booked four rooms - all adults purchased the drink package. It was the best thing. Especially going with such a big group. Not having to worry who bought the next drink, we dropped some coin. We are now booked for another October Getaway - you better believe the drink package is all set. Looking forward 6 weeks out. :D

  2. I agree with the drink package. It trumps the food package all day. There are great sit down restaurants offered for free ++ plus buffet. We did the drink package last year. From what I remember I spent approx. 180.00 my wife hit 80.00 (that's 260.00 on the first day) and we are not drinkers, but when in Rome. We did meet several people that were disappointed by not purchasing the UBP on the 4th day. You basically can go to any bar/restaurant/club/show/venue and order any alcoholic/non-alcoholic drink without opening your wallet. I hear Margaretville is coming to the Getaway in September. Our cruise is in October - it should be a treat. Hopefully they will accept the UBP. (Small disclaimer when your on the port of Miami - until approx 3 miles out. You need to pay the sales tax per purchase of alcohol not sure if it applies to non-alcoholic drinks. Something like .70 cents per drink if that. - you can wait until your 3 miles out, or enjoy your pennies to the dollar fruity drink. Whatever you choose don't opt for the internet package. People it's a vacation - you need to disconnect. You can survive a week without Social Media if not check yourself. (dropped mic) lol..

  3. Why the UBP? My liquor bill is rarely over $75. Why should I pay almost $100 in gratuities for something when I can pay a la carte and come out for much less?

$75 - is that per day - or your entire trip? I'm not a drinker and was not going to get the UBP - glad I did. The first day I dropped $180 alone. My wife is less of a drinker than me - she hit $108 same day. I met several people that didn't get it on the cruise. They were not liking it by the 4th day - our group of 16 sure were glad we each had the package - craziest part no one got drunk, but we sure had a blast. Worth it - (something else you should know - when your on/leaving the port of Miami - the drink taxes are not included in the UBP - that you have to pay separate. I believe we paid under $15 in taxes. The ship has to be out a certain amount of miles - then you don't get hit with the taxes. Something to think about.

  4. We are getting ready to leave in a few weeks for a cruise on the Getaway.

Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on their favorite bar, favorite bar tenders or favorite servers?

Also your favorite place to hang out? Possibly to play a round or two of cards?

How are the specialty coffee drinks?

Any advice and tips are welcome!

First and foremost - did you get the UBP? If so - you'll be set. Without it figure out a way to make it happen. Check out the Sugarcane Mojito Bar. At night hit O'Sheehan's - best chicken wings at sea. Specialty coffee - only the paid stuff at Cake boss café is what I seen. Enjoy your time.
