  1. Looking for cabin reviews on Island Princess.  Since this is a different layout that other Princess ships I want to know more.  We are booked for the 2021 world cruise (Praying it sails) and booked in handicap cabin on Promenade deck.  I would like to know dimensions of balcony.

I have asked for an upgrade to Premium suite in the aft on the same deck ( Promenade Deck.).  Since this will probably be our last cruise due to age and possible health problems that come with age.

  2. I also have a Travelscoot.  My husband got it for me while on the World Cruise Pacific Princess in Aucklund.  He e-mailed all information to the shop after leaving Hawaii.   He folded it up to fit in the trunk of a friend's small car in Australia, worked great.  It takes about 5 minutes to completely fold.  If you don't have a local mobility store check Amazon.  It is relatively expensive compared to the other scooters.

He got some addessories when we got home, a front basket and wider front wheel.  Some of the sculpted carpet  on the ship would grab the front wheel and try to steer me.  During the cruise the seat bracket broke and engineering was able to make a new one at no charge.

The ship tour desk should be able to let you know if you can take it on tours.  We went on the tenders and the busses since it weights less than 40 lbs.  I could not take it on graveled surfaces as it sank in and lose dirt is not good.  If you are on a slope be care full because it is only 3 wheeled and feels like you may fall.  If you are in the rain you may have to use a hair dryer to dry the electric connections.

  3. When we did the world cruise earlier this year they had cars parked for the entire 111 days at no extra charge.

Crown Plaza is much older than Double tree. Closer to the port but with everything I read about the shuttle I prefer Double Tree. The parking is great outdoors and sign up for shuttle is very organized. We have walked the area many times. If you have a car you can drive to Long Beach to find restaurants on the water. Double Tree has restaurant and there is a restaurant about 3-4 blocks away if you don't have a car.

  4. Bruin Steve seems to have the best information.

We stayed on the Queen Mary in October. Our cabin was on the land side and there was a Halloween carnival going on until after midnight. It was noisy. Just be aware that people of the 20's and 30's were much smaller than Americans today. The bed was only about 5 feet long and even my feet hung over the end. My husband is 6 ft.

I had dinner in the restaurant. More like a cheap cafe that was very expensive. the cabin was about the size of a small inside cabin on the modern ships. It was a pre-cruise non-cruise to see what the ship was like. Park is now $20 per night.

Been there & Done that. We stay at the Double Tree for comfort and convenience now.
