  1. I thought from some of Dai's posts that the P&O reward scheme was separate to the gratuity charges and based on the approval ratings from the on board questionnaires. But given the cost level this does fit the current gratuity charge.

Hi terrierjohn, who is Dai ?

  2. Some do but happily it's a dieing trend. Tends to be a little more prominent at Christmas.

I am a door decorator. It is such a personal thing. .

Oh dear, there are people that still do this ?

Its a personal thing I am sure, but I guess if it makes people happy, and it helps make their cruise, then ok.

  3. many years ago, I think it was 2001, we were on the Sun Cruises Seawing. We were invited to the Captains cabin, along with other couples for a beautiful evening of food, laughter and great conversation.

It was a week cruise around the Greek isles, the Captain was Greek, and the food was all Greek, and was such an informal enjoyable evening.

Finished off with a tour of the bridge.

Such a small tiny ship by today's ship standards, but it was a beautiful time.

Thanks so much to the OP and many thanks for the link

  4. If you like a drop of the hard stuff Thomson is better than P&O. Thomson measures are 40ml and P&O 25ml. Including tips is, IMO, a good marketing move.

agreed, but then some of the current ships are not in the best shape.

Although that is all about to change, with the rebranding to TUI cruises and new ships.

So all looks good for the future of TUI cruises.

  5. The next step above the passenger service desk supervisor is the the Hotel Manager.

I suggest you request an immediate meeting with him. Explain who you have talked to before and the funny answers that they have given you.

If he does not have the problem fixed. Request a second meeting with him and tell him you want a meeting with the Capt or any senior officer that the Capt designates to meet with you. Also, at that point I would request another cabin, one with a working bathroom because getting dressed in the middle of the night to hike to a public bathroom is going to prevent you from "Coming Back New".

    Bob

    agreed, great answer.

  6. Why ? 😕

We took a tour of the ship on Thomson Celebration during the day at sea two years ago. First stop on the tour was for a cup of tea in the captain's cabin before going onto the bridge, engine room, stores, kitchens and everywhere in between. A great experience.

sounds like a wonderful experience, and glad your tour of the ship was enjoyable. Something as nice as a "Cup of Tea" to break the ice, so to speak, before the all important tour.

Thanks for sharing that story, its a pity that all the contributors to this post were not all complimentary

  7. I'm with nationwide and think my bank card is also fee free for atm withdrawals and my nationwide credit card is fee free for purchase abroad but not at the atm

You definitely don't want to withdraw cash on a credit card.

Check if your "Free" ATM withdrawals are only confined to Nationwide, as there may be a fee charged for other banks. Even if there is a charge its normally small.

Never use a credit card for ATM withdrawals, its will cost a fortune. There is a way around this, by putting your credit card in the "Black" it will be cheaper in the long run, but thats another story.

  8. Princess is not a detective agency, nor law enforcement, and will not "call" you everything. They want you back, and do not want you to view your cabin steward as a spy.

On the above, I meant "call you on everything".

    what a lovely post.

Cruise princess ....., we know exactly what you are up to..

  9. Bad news then. Still slippery. Is a bit dodgy putting down a floor around a pool knowing it is slippery when wet. Most people wear flip flops as the deck is usually red hot when in the sun. I will have to be super careful and only tread on the dry bits. Will see how the adult pool is on Brittania.

we all have to be careful when wearing these holiday "Must Have's".

They are always included in our luggage.

Although there are fashion police here who complain about them.

  10. Sorry PedroLeBlanc you miss understood my short post the 'we' I was referring to was all of the cruisers on the site, young and old. Although we are pensioners we started cruising many years ago and in all our years we have always noted a good mix of ages so what I should have said is they are targeting everyone, I can remember the Emerald and the Calypso and a few others.

    Sorry again:rolleyes:

    apology accepted pensioncruiser :D

I missed the post, where it was announced that you had become the ambassador for everyone and everything on the Thomson forum .:D:D

  11. We are

indeed, but all are not pensioners are they ?

Its been a while for me, since I have cruised on Thomson, (Emerald) and the passengers were a mix of young and old.

Just wondering with the Thomson Branded ships and the new(ish) TUI branded ship(s), what the difference in the target market will be going forward.
