Totally agree about the smoking area. Seemed ridiculous to me, DH got sick of hearing me whinge every time we went through that door!
also agree about the added cost of cruising when you live in SA, especially when taking kids as everything is then double the price of course! We’re always on the lookout for Adelaide departures that are interesting and suit our schedules too. I’ve been eying off a couple of CMV cruises 2019-2020 school holidays but they really don’t seem that kid friendly.

Merry christmas and a Happy Nee Year to you too!
We’re preparing for a 36 degree Christmas Day and a 39 degree Boxing Day here in rural SA.
Happy Cruising!

I had to call Celebrity and ask them to make it visible on the Cruise Planner. Once they did that, I could see the beverage package perk (we are go better).

My favorites are Alfredo fettuccine, pina colada soup and the tiramisu in little glass cups in the IC. I have a hard time stopping at one tiramisu!
Ooh, yes! I love those little tiramisus, and the Nutella donuts 🙂

Yes, Swarovski is available at the gift store.

Pjwaz- it depends on the state. South Australia will start their school holidays on the 14th of December in 2019.

Chuck, the ones from Big W are great. We’ve used them a few time and they don’t show any signs of giving up. For a family of 4 we have two sets of big w, two sets of Kmart and a couple of hand me down Kathmandu cubes from my mother-in-law.
I forgot to mention that, like AKAMum, we also use one cube to keep a set of travelling clothes for all four of us if we are overnighting somewhere pre-cruise. Saves rifling around in every cube before unpacking.

I love my packing cubes. For me they simplify the process of unpacking on arrival and repacking to leave. I pack alike clothes in each one (eg shorts and pants in one, undies in another) and on arrival I simply put the whole cube, unzipped, in the drawers or on the shelves. Because of this, I pack flat and folded into them for ease of use.
I pack the cubes on the bottom of my suitcase to form a flat surface and then the things I don’t pack in them can lie on top.
I have two different sorts, some nice sturdier ones from big w (were approx $25 for three, various sizes) and some cheaper ones from Kmart which I don’t anticipate are going to live as long! Should also mention that I’m in Australia.
Enjoy your first cruise!

We’ll be on Solstice soon and now I’m even more excited! The food at this station looks yummo!

For us, must not have a balcony as we travel with our kids and balconies make me nervous (more for the rest to book!). Besides that, we’re not generally too fussed. Close to coffee is a bonus but not a necessity.

Thanks James’mommy and Solo Dancer. Sounds like our mid morning coffee will be covered then. I’m looking forward to the close proximity of the Passport bar :)

You can always have room service. You won’t get the coffee from Cafe al Bacio on a drink package but I think it is available at the regular price.
The regular coffee isn’t that bad and I am a Americano drinker with my own espresso maker at home ( true old time espresso maker with the portafilter and handle to pull a shot along with the steam wand). Actually neither is as good as I make but that is all personal taste. Like the old saying “any port in a storm”.
Happy crusing [emoji305][emoji568][emoji631][emoji560]
Thanks, Miched. I thought the Cafe Al Bacio coffees would be covered under our package. We just got off the Golden Princess and the buffet coffee was revolting! Eventually we figured out an order in the International Cafe that would get us a strong, yummy coffee.

Thank you, I thought that may be the case. Guess I’ll have to walk two whole flights of stairs then [emoji6]

We’re sailing on Solstice in January and have booked on Plaza, deck 3. Can anyone tell me the opening hours of the passport bar? Particularly interested in whether I’ll be able to grab a morning coffee from there. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing! I know what I’m having for dinner now - I’ve been dreaming about this pasta!

For us it was worth it. $128 for the all inclusive package. We walked away with exactly 128 photos so far cheaper than buying individually. The photographers knew we had the package and made it extra fun, encouraging us to try to get all the backgrounds and try different poses. Now we have some beautiful keepsakes.

Fantastic, informative thread - thanks everyone!

Hi Janet, we're on the same cruise and would love to hear about this too. We're from Adelaide so I'm expecting that once we head a little further south it will be gorgeous on the deck.

Couldn't agree more, Gizfish. Saw quite a number of unsupervised children on our last cruise, of many age groups. I ended up using most of them as teaching opportunities for my 7 and 10 year old. Pointing out what those children were doing and why it was unacceptable behaviour and reinforcing how proud I was that my kids were listing well and treating staff and fellow passengers with respect. They was some of these unsupervised kids were treating the cruise staff was atrocious. Refusing to use hand sanitizer and laughing at how much mess they made in the buffet and other public places. Where were there parents? No idea. Clearly they thought they were on holidays from parenting too!

I think this is a fantastic change. Would certainly make me consider Carnival. A step in the right direction in a modern world. Discriminating against a group of people, when there is nothing to protect that group or people from (such as gambling) is ludicrous.
From the comments I've read on his thread it seems that folks have a problem with the patenting choices of some adults, not the presence of well behaved children. We live in a world made up of many types of people of many ages. Give me happy kids over revoltingly behaved drunken adults any day!

Explorer 3/4 Berth Balcony Cabin
in P&O Cruises ( Australia )
Posted · Edited by Sonja01
I’d like to see some too. I’m curious how I can find out, before booking, whether a 3/4 berth cabin has the bunkbed style setup, facing across the stateroom, or the more conventional additional berths, which pull down from the ceiling, facing along the stateroom.
