  1. this is what I was afraid of! I booked this suite for 3 women who do not like sleeping in a bed with someone else( unless it's our husbands- but they can't go!). the RC rep said we could pull the beds apart. Now after final payment has been made, i hear you can't pull them apart. $10,000 ayer, I am dreading this.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Can they bring in a roll away bed.

  2. Our group of 8 just got back from the Celebrity Equinox. We had a 2 day tour with Ramses and were thrilled. My father had used them a year ago and recommended them to me.

Our driver was Mohammed and he was the most incredibly skilled (and SAFE) driver I have ever seen. As others have mentioned, the driving in Cairo is the most frightening I have ever experienced. There were several times when pedestrians would cross the street right in front of speeding cars and narrowly escape being hit. The drive ended up taking about 3 1/2 hours so be prepared.

Our guide was Islam Said. To say he was amazing is an understatement. After using at least 20 different private guides on various cruises, I can honestly say he is the best we have ever had. His English was almost perfect- he actually understood our nuances, idioms and humor. He was extremely knowledgeable, flexible, accommodating and charming. I highly recommend that you ask for him specifically. You will not be disappointed. Just for fun, I searched this thread and 4 other people had posted comments about Islam- all 4 were very positive, too.

Our ship did not get in to the port until 11AM, yet we never missed a thing. After seeing the Mosque and spending a few hours at the Museum, we ended up with a sunset felucca ride. It was amazing. He got to the Mena House about 8PM and had dinner at the Moghul Room, which was very good.

The next day we started at 8AM and went to the Pyramids at Giza, then to Memphis, Sakkara, and finally to lunch at an Egyptian Restaurant in Giza. It was great, even though we were afriad of getting sick ( but none of us did). We ended up back in Alexandria to see the library and were back on the ship by 7:00 PM.

I highly recommend Ramses and more specifically, Islam. Any tour company is only as good as its guides. If you can get him you will not be disappointed. Ramses did a great job of communicating prior to the cruise and even followed up the day after our trip to make certain we were satisfied. They promised us a trip of a lifetime in Cairo and they delivered.
