  1. Wife & I (30s) have been on 2 Princess cruises and 1 RC cruise. We prefer the night time activities on Princess. There was a wider range of night life on Princess. On RC it was mostly dance shows & dancing (we hate dancing).

Daytime activities were comparable - different but both equally fun.

We found the service a bit better on Princess.

Food was a little better on RC.

Hot tubs could be hotter on both.

  2. Cliff notes:

For my parents 50th anniversary they're taking the "kids" (39 & 45) and grand kids on Allure of the Seas this July. My sister and I would like to do something special for them while on the ship. But we're not sure what. Any ideas are welcome :)

    Longer version:

This will be the 3rd or 4th cruise for my parents - so they're used to cruising. Parents are in their 70s, but still active - not rock wall climbing active, but golf 3-4 times/week (they LOVE golf).

My mom loves anything that makes her special/others envious. Like at Margarittaville in Cozumel one year, she was laying an air mattress in the ocean, I swam out a drink to her & everyone was asking how she got a drink. She loved that.

My dad is a pretty average family guy/granddad in his 70s. Likes Johnnie Walker (already has 2 bottles of Blue so that's out), golf, steak, he's super happy just to have the entire family on vacation.

    Current ideas:

Does RCI offer anything like a butler service?

Maybe a vow renewal ceremony - not sure if they'd want to do that not though.

Upgrade their room? Can I do that even though I didn't book the room?

Any way to get in touch with the entertainment director? See if I can ensure they get maybe one of the games? Or do they ever pull people up on stage for the dance shows?

Buy them dinner at one of specialty restaurants, and have something special - again not sure what.

Thanks for any and all input! :)
