  1. For those of you on this sailing and not continuing on a cruisetour, try to see if you can postpone your return flight and stay a night or two in the Whittier/Seward area and take a day cruise into College Fjiord (Phillipstours 26 Glacier Tour - $189 pp plus tax or a Kenai Fjiord National Park day cruise (several offered from Seward).  At least then you'll be able to see the glaciers and some great scenery!

  2. Does anyone know if Princess still provides a priest for an Easter Sunday mass onboard?  They used to for Christmas and Easter, but that was a few years back,

so I'm not sure of the present policy.  Could not get a straight answer by phone or chat.  I will be boarding the Discovery Princess this Sunday, Apr 17 (Easter).

    Thanks for any info!

  3. My last Princess cruise was on the Pacific Princess Rome to Venice, Nov 11, 2019 - a great 12 day cruise that included Portofino, Sorrento, Malta, Montenegro, Croatia, and Slovenia.  Montenegro was definitely a favorite - most beautiful, as well as Lake Bled in Slovenia and a return to Portofino.  I enjoyed the Pacific Princess, but I think my favorite class is the Royal class, simply for the

amenities and smooth ride of such a large ship. Have been on the Royal, Regal, and Majestic, and look forward to trying the new Sky and Enchanted.

  4. We got off the Regal on June 12 in Copenhagen, and we were off the ship by 6:45 AM. No customs - we took the Princess transfer bus to the airport, which is where we picked up our luggage. You should be able to get a taxi with no problem at the port to the Central Station. We took a taxi TO the port from the Scandic Hotel, which is very close to the train station, and it cost us

somewhere between $20 - 25 US. No problems, great service, and they take credit cards Your trip should be approximately the same. It was a great trip and loved the Regal. Enjoy!

  5. Three of us walked off with our luggage from the Majestic Princess last May. We didn't do an early walk off but waited in the elite lounge and went off with our color code - no problem. This way, we didn't have to put our luggage out the night before, and went straight to a bus rather than waiting for luggage.

  6. I, too, was on the same cruise, and your review was quite accurate. The weather wasn't the best, but found the food and entertainment to be quite acceptable. Ate in Ocean Cay one eve - spectacular crab appetizer, and one night at the Teppan Grill - one of the most enjoyable meals I have ever had on a cruise ship and worth every penny. We sailed on the Divina last year - same week - with much better weather. All in all, we liked the Divina more - larger balcony cabin - larger bathroom - even more elegant than the Seaside - more Italian flair - Seaside is more Americanized. What made this trip even better for us was that we had Captain Scala again and most of the cruise staff was from the Divina last year, led by the incredible Candice Moses. It felt like "family."

Topped off with three great excursions - bobsled Jamaica in Ocho Rios, the Mexican cooking class at Playa Mia beach in Cozumel, and an unbelievable day at Maya Chan all inclusive beach day in Costa Maya. The ship was great - yes, a sewage smell in some parts of the ship, but not in our cabin. I have been on other cruise lines where it was directly in our bathroom, but the faults on the Seaside were minor. Great embarkation - 10 minutes - great debarkation - 10 minutes. No immigration forms any longer. Just show your passport and you're off!

My recommendation is go with an open mind and enjoy, and don't sweat the small stuff!

  7. I have been on the Sapphire twice - once on a short coastal from L.A. to Victoria/Vancouver, and once on a week long California Coastal. It is definitely one of my favorite Princess ships. Loved the four smaller themed MDR. Each one seemed like a specialty restaurant, and the Sapphire is one of the few older ships that has an Alfredo's Pizzeria, similar to the newer Royal, Regal, and Majestic. Alfredo's pizza is definitely better than the poolside pizza, and a great complimentary addition to the International Cafe.

  8. Check out the La Quinta Inn and Suites Miami Airport East. Stayed there last January prior to the Divina, and staying again this January prior to Seaside.. Reasonable, free transport from the airport, free breakfast, AND free transport to Port Miami. Al a carte restaurant for possible dinner next door at the Embassy Suites.

  9. I booked it online in the prepaid section. Log in with your booking number, go to customize my cruise, and you'll find Spa and Fitness, along with Shore Excursions, Food and Beverage, etc. I'm booked on the Seaside in January, and it's there in Spa and Fitness offerings, still $65.

  10. I had a facial on the Divina last Jan, and it was great. I pre-booked it online at US$65, which I thought was a great deal, as most ships on other cruise lines run about US $110+. It was a lay down, full 55 minute facial - choice of one of seven styles- and no gratuity was added on. In fact, there was no place to add a gratuity on the receipt. I gave cash. Didn't see it offered cheaper on the ship. Would highly recommend it.

  11. Just returned last month from the Majestic Barcelona to Rome, and spent two pre cruise nights at the Hotel Santa Marta, near the Gothic Quarter. Very reasonable, about $130/night, with an excellent buffet breakfast. Excellent location, great nearby restaurants, clean modern room, great front desk staff. Took the airport bus for 9 euros, then a short taxi ride. Would definitely recommend and stay there again. Friends stayed at Hotel Del Mar. They liked that as well - a little more expensive.

  12. I sailed on the Royal in October, 1987 - 10 days through the Panama Canal from Acapulco to San Juan. It was my first Princess cruise,.(I've just come off my 19th on Majestic Princess). Our outside cabin was on Promenade Deck, with passenger walking right by our window, but it was no problem. Cabins were small in those days. One of the twin beds folded up into the wall, while the other doubled as a sofa during the day. Our friends had a balcony cabin, and I remember thinking "what a luxury." it was the first balcony cabin I had ever seen. Dinners were great - tableside service, and we often invited officers and entertainers to dine with us. We were even invited to the crew Halloween oarty, in costume, at the crew's pool, aft. Those were truly fun days, and the ship was a beauty!

  13. I am sailing on the Majestic Princess on May 14 and was recently offered an upsell offer from a deluxe obstructed balcony to a mini suite for $99pp ($198 solo) for the seven day cruise. I thought this was a bargain, as it was over a $1000 value. I took it for the extra space, tub, larger bathroom, larger closet shelves, larger desk, full size sofa, larger balcony table to enjoy breakfast. No, I don't need an extra TV, but the extra space and the comfort that a mini provides will now allow me to invite the friends I am traveling with to come and enjoy drinks before dinner, whereas I could not do that before, Yes, I had to pay all of $11 more for insurance, and a whole $1 a day more in gratuities, but I thought it was a great deal, so I took it. Yes, each to their own, but at that price, SOLD! I don't think I would have paid $500.

  14. I had cabin E630 on the Royal last Nov for a 4 day cruise, and it was perfect! No obstructed view straight out, just a large white box of inflatable life rafts below, and if you looked forward, a view of the lifeboats.

Enjoyed people watching those on deck below, and no noise from them at all. Never heard promenade doors slamming below. I really don't think the deck is used that much. What I did like about the port side is that deck is non smoking, so no vapor trails drifting upward. All the smokers were on starboard side. I would book that cabin again anytime. Off to the Majestic Princess May 14!
