  1. My last cruise I worked until noon and walked down to the pier to board Solstice. Would you have opted to stay at the office or board the ship and start putting your drink package to work?

Forgot that, for the first time ever, I have a drink package. Definitely boarding early!!!

  2. I guess it depends on the airline and their change fees. Some only charge a flat rate while others charge the difference in airfare.

You could also purchase a refundable fare. Will cost you more, but you can cancel without penalty.

If you get insurance you will need the kind that allows "cancel for any reason". Again this costs more and usually only covers 70-80% of the total trip cost.

  3. There was a similar thread on this topic last week. Cruise lines are no different than other travel industries like hotels and airlines, if there is unsold capacity they will discount it.

Many of us are in the same situation this year due to the hurricanes.

  4. Since you indicated that they booked only 8 weeks out, there is not much you can do since you are past final payment date. Many of us who booked early in they year are in the same situation.

Since many people cancelled after the hurricanes, cruise lines had to offer special rates to fill the ship.
