  1. We are also trying a new line and looking forward to Equinox in February. I'm just excited to be trying Celebrity after several cruises on RCL and NCL with some different menus & entertainment they were all getting to be the same.

What date in February are you sailing?

We will be on the Feb 3rd sailing to San Juan, St Maarten and St Kitts

  2. First let me say Disney is in a class by itself when it comes to cruising. I have cruised Disney once and Celebrity twice with our third Celebrity cruise coming up in August. All that to say try not to compare because you can't.

As to the inside cabin, our friends did their first Celebrity cruise in an inside cabin for 11 nights with their adult daughter. They did not complain. The cabin seemed to be exactly like our balcony cabin except no balcony. I hope you will come to love Celebrity as much as we do.

We are definitely going in to this cruise hoping to share our love of cruising with a new line! My husband works from home on his computer, so anywhere we travel that has free internet, he can work. Cruises and camping are the only times I can get him to put his computer away and actually vacation! So cruising different lines with more choices in itineraries and less cash out of pocket will definitely help my enjoyment of new cruise lines!

  3. More thanks to the previous posters!! It sounds like there are more cruisers like ourselves then it seemed! An extra shout out to those that have responded with all the "free"/ included food and drinks. We also like to leave the ship with a very short onboard account. We actually like the darkness of the inside cabins and drink tap water all the time. Getting more excited about trying a different cruise line, everyone here has been so very helpful! Thanks again to everyone that has replied with comments and information!

  4. You need to let us know what other lines have you done to get a specific answer from us. If you've done Princess, your cruise will be similar, especially if you've done their Royal class ships.

Actually, the only other cruise line we have done is Disney. We are booked on a Princess as a B2B with this Celebrity cruise in February, so glad to hear it will be similar. I know the stateroom will be smaller, and I am going in with a very open mind regarding the new cruise lines. We have been able to keep prices down on DCL, but we are ready for new itineraries, and the DCL prices are crazy for a southern Caribbean itinerary.

  5. Thank you all for your replies, it makes me feel more comfortable with our choice! We don't drink coffee or wine, just lots of water and sometimes some lemonade and iced tea. What is available on the ship that is complimentary to drink? And where can we get it? We have a lot of research to do reguarding what food is included in our cruise fare. We prefer to get our calories via food, not drink 😉

  6. We love to cruise. To afford it, we book insides, or whatever is a real bargain. We don't drink much, maybe two or three drinks per cruise. Although I would love to sail in a suite, I can't justify the cost. (I would take a free upgrade, though). We don't book expensive excursions. We are more interested in the history and culture of a port, not the active excursions created for tourists. EM

Thank you for your post, you sound very similar to us! Glad to hear we aren't the only ones that travel this way.

  7. Hello everyone, my husband and I have finally decided to cruise a new line and are booked on the Equinox in February. We are doing our research and have noticed that we seem to be the only ones who have booked an inside stateroom. We have cruised before, and we never spend time in our cabins except for sleeping and getting ready for the day. We also don't need drink packages as we don't drink soda and rarely an alcoholic drink. Hoping we can get some confirmation that we will enjoy our vacation on Celebrity without having an upgraded cabin and drinking all day.

  8. I agree with PP who say that this is definitely not the newest or best as far as what RCCL has to offer, but it is enjoyable. This was my partner's first cruise and he thoroughly enjoyed it. We are both very easy going folks. We are heading out on Navigator soon and I can't wait for him to see how great another class of RCCL is, he is already hooked on the line.

    Things to keep in mind:

    - The ship is older. You may see a bit of rust on the window fixtures in the MDR.

-The MDR is much smaller than other ships, only one level.

-If you choose to visit the night club, it is rather small and a little humid. We still had a good time.

-The rooms are smaller, we spent little time in the cabin so it was fine. We are average size people (both under 200lbs, with no mobility issues) so we had no problem moving around or using the small bathroom.

    - There aren't as many dining options as other classes of RCCL ships.

-This itinerary is essentially a beach and relaxation getaway weekend and great way to kick back after spending days wandering around WDW.

-The juices in the Windjammer are very concentrated (at least they were on our cruise) so we would cut them with water. The food was similar to Golden Corral, it works as long as you are not overly picky and expected filet mignon and escargot at a buffet for the price. =]

We had a great time, no complaints about the service and ship as we are pretty easy going.

Enjoy the vacay and consider another class when you find a date that works.

Thank you!! This sounds like what we were thinking. We are not picky and very easy going. We enjoy the Disney experience, but we are not stuck on them or expecting the same experience. We have Never paid more than $100pppn for a Disney cruise. Now we are looking for different itineraries at similar prices, and we have heard good things about RCCL. We realize that this ship isn't the big fancy ones, and we tend to prefer that. I may change my mind if/when we try one of the bigger/newer RCCL ships, but I want a cruise ship to be more relaxing and intimate rather than like a big city. Assuming all goes well, we will definitely try one of the other classes for a new experience!

    Thanks again!

  9. Thank you all for your insight. The idea of going out of Tampa was great, unfortunately there are no sailings around when we have plans to be at WDW. And the thought of upgrading cabin size is noted as well. We are a really easy going couple. We enjoy both being busy with activities and just reading in a lounge chair. We are taking all this information in, it is greatly appreciated! Thanks again!

  10. While Majesty is a wonderful ship and has been refurbished, she is currently one of the smaller and the oldest ship in the RCI fleet and is lacking some of the activities and venues of the rest of the fleet.

The staterooms are also noticeably smaller than the other ships and there are limited balcony staterooms. Three day cruises also tend to be party cruises and may not present the true experience that a longer seven night cruise would.

IMO it would not necessarily be the best ship by which to judge the rest of the fleet or RCI experience.

This is kind of what I am curious about. Unfortunately this is the only RC ship at port Canaveral when we will be in Florida. I'm just hoping we will get an idea of food and how the cruise line itself "works". We aren't as concerned of the size, we tend to prefer the smaller Disney ships as well.

  11. Hi everyone! I am new to these boards and fairly clueless as to any cruise line except Disney. I have convinced my husband to give another cruise line a try, so we added a 3 night cruise on the Majesty to one of our trips to Florida. My question is, will this cruise give us a fair idea of what we can expect from RCCL? Depending on how this short cruise goes, we will decide whether we want to continue to seek out other cruises outside of Disney. We would be interested in your thoughts and any help regarding what we can expect from our cruise. I really hope this will be a good experience, as there are some great itineraries that we would be interested in trying!

    Thank you in advance!
