I'll second that recommendation. We've used them several times for pier to JFK parking, where we'd left our car prior to flying eastbound. No need to call until after you've cleared customs. They'll pick you up at the private car queue (immediate left after leaving the cruise terminal on foot) so you won't have to deal with the taxi queue. Hope this helps.

In our half dozen QM2 crossings I've never heard of that throwing flowers thing. On every crossing there is mention during the noon announcement on the day when the ship is south of Newfoundland of how many miles we are from the site of Titanic's resting place. Granted, the loss of Titanic was something special and a compelling argument has been made that QM2 would never have been built had not Titanic hit that berg and had not that 1997 movie been made, but I believe it's long past time to let Titanic rest in peace and silence.
Agreed. On a personal note, however: on a family crossing in 2007 our son proposed to his girlfriend whilst on deck near the fatal coordinates. We have a beloved daughter-in law and grandson, and shall always have fond recollections of that lonely spot in the North Atlantic.

We have always rented from National/Eurocar, which is on West Quay Road. I believe it is the closest location. We chose them because they have favorable rates on one-way rentals, and a reliable online reservation system. We have always flown in, picked up at either Glasgow or Heathrow, and dropped off at Southampton. I take my wife and our luggage to the terminal, return the car, then (depending on weather) walk or take/share a taxi back to the terminal.
It's about a mile level walk, or a 1.4 mile drive, due to one-way traffic patterns.
I did ask about pickup/dropoff service many years ago, and my recollection is that it was not offered.
If we were arriving by ship and renting a car, I'd simply have a taxi take us and our luggage from the terminal to the car rental depot. I would certainly make my reservation in advance.

Pls realize that a crew of 1.000 persons lives on the ship for 6 months. They do need some fresh air and space for recreation.
8 decks of open space should do for 2.400 passengers.
For what it's worth, I believe that the aft area on Deck 5 is a working (i.e. docking) area.
The crew have an open-air recreation deck atop the after house that houses the kennels, Boardwalk Cafe kitchen, and Stairway D. Their own "Deck 13."

In our experience, anyone can simply drive into the main parking lot at the terminal.... simply ignore the taxis, limos, vans, &c parked in the "waiting" area (i.e. "free") by the warehouses as you drive in, drive past the terminal, take a ticket at the parking lot, and park. There's only one pedestrian walkway between the terminal and the parking lot. You can connect with your friends at a prearranged point. If your friends are ambulatorily challenged, and/or have lots of luggage, (and have the correct attitude / interpersonal skills) a longshoreman will be happy to trundle their luggage right to your car. Altogether MUCH quicker than driving into the "arrivals" traffic scrum. We've done this as passengers and drivers, inbound and outbound. No need to over-complicate it, but make your friends pay for the parking and lunch on the way home.
