Thank you Charles & Judy 🙂  Your information has been SO HELPFUL!!  I hope you don't mind my adding a suggestion for anyone who might be interested......  My Sister (Barbara) has a famous booth at KCC (Kapiolani Community College) Open Air Market near the base of Diamond Head where she makes "Fried Green Tomatoes" like you have never had before!!  The market is open every Saturday from 7am to 11am and her booth is called "Two Hot Tomatoes".  Her line is usually filled with Japanese Tourists.... go figure.  She has been doing this for over 15 years and it is an experience to taste her tomatoes.  Also, the Market is filled with so many other homemade original Hawaiian treasures.... flowers, food, nuts, etc. and is SO WORTH a trip  if anyone can arrange the time.  Tell her Bonnie says "Hi" and I'll see her after market.......

  2. Is it true you can't get a decent cup of coffee on the Royal unless you buy a coffee package??  (Only thing available some sort of liquid mix in Horizon court??) My husband drinks a lot of coffee and it seems if we buy the package he can get good brewed coffee with no restriction on how many cups at a special coffee bar) and Can share any specialty coffee with me.(15 limit)???..Regular brewed coffee not included in the 15?? Am I reading the rules correctly?  We have done 22 cruises and never had to pay for a decent cup of coffee before...seems frustrating!!

We had E424 on Majestic - the equivalent cabin one deck up and on the other side. The balcony was almost double the size of a regular Royal class balcony. Certainly the best of the extended balconies. D428 is a bit smaller I think.

Here's a pic of DH sitting on the balcony. You can't sit like that on a standard Royal balcony.

    Thank you!!!

  4. We just booked Royal D425...reg balcony cabin with "extended" balcony under the Seawalk.  Has anyone had one of these and are they that much bigger?  Would D428 (first in line of the extended angled balconies be any bigger?  Appreciate any input!  Not too concerned about looky loos as we are down quite a few decks from the walkers.  Thanks.

Yes you can however......LA/San Pedro is probably one of the strictest ports that I have seen.

They examine every can/bottle looking for liquor.

Princess offers a great deal on 12 bottles of water which can be purchased pre cruise in the personalizer for $6.90.

That could eliminate part of your lugging.

Thanks ... that sounds much better .... no lugging it on!

  6. Due to a rescheduled late departure on March 4, we have a few hours to kill on Sunday before returning our rental car to MIA, would like to experience some South Beach shopping, people watching, and lunch. Is parking easy, structure, hotel, lot, etc?? Recommendation very appreciated!

  7. For anyone who's stayed or familiar, both are about equal as far as $$$ And reviews....but which is more convenient to water taxi, restaurants (not McDonalds!)..etc. One says Near "riverwalk"..what's that? I know Doubletree is on water taxi stop but more pricey...suggestions or recommendation of the two? We are going in March and currently suffering from "sticker shock." Thanks.

  8. We are Elite and should supposedly be entitled to a one category upgrade...if I go on and do a dummy booking I get the same price with or without My Cc#thru Celebrity...Thoughts???

Also, it is depressing that I can book the same cruise (3-4-18 Silouette) FOR EFFECTIVELY OVER $500 less ($200 less basic cost, extra perk (gratuities $$$), extra OBC $150 thru the Big online TA....BUT... I have a considerable Future Cruise Credit ( which I really earned when I fell on a RCCL cruise last December...broke my wrist, put off the ship in Cozumel to hospital, ship left without us taking all our clothes, valuables, etc...NIGHTMARE!) Agency can't take my FCC since they won't make enough commission...so, effectively I have to spend over $500 more with Celebrity to use my FCC....DOUBLE BUMMER! Anyone having similar problems and what about the one category upgrade issue??

  9. Thanks everyone....Wow! How long must it take to blow up that Ball? It will certainly be a test of my old lungs. For $3...it's probably worth a try...Just don't think CC upgrade cost is worth it ... done it a few times (often just cause it was a better deal.) We are Elite and probably won't ever get to Elite+ due to our age so the extra points don't have the value for us....WONDERING IF TAKING THE COFFEE TABLE OUTSIDE MIGHT WORK ALSO...

  10. Well, I hope we get some very current input on this....I am considering switching our cabin from 1C to Concierge BUT ONLY for footstools... $120 more for footstools....am I crazy? I would be livid if I paid the $$$ and didnt get the stools...don't think any of the other perks of CC are worth it...love Celebrity but those CC afternoon apps are nasty!
