Don't forget to bring singles with you. You'll need them to tip the guys at the curb who help with your luggage, the room service waiters, the guides on your excursions, etc. We always pick up a pack of $50 singles from the bank before we leave on our cruise. And, we also bring thank you note cards for our room steward and waiters so we can give them cash and a friendly note.

Not worth the hassle of having them hold onto your luggage until you go claim it. The drink package is a breeze, well worth the cost

Yes, we saw some families doing that. Lots of great spots.

We are sailing the western Itinerary next week and will have stops in Labadee, Cozumel, and Jamaica. We are not buying the wifi cruise package, but curious to know how hard it is to check on the kids (and grandma) back home. Does anyone know of places close to where the ship docks where we can walk? Many thanks! :-)
PS - we have iphones and live here in the midwest
We just returned from those ports. Both Jamaica and Cozumel have restaurants at the ports with free wi-fi, you just have to buy a soda or something and the waitress will enter the password into your phone. We went to Margaritaville. We didn't take our phones off the ship in Labadee because we knew we'd be in the water, so I'm not sure about wi-fi there. Have fun!! Bring water shoes, depending on which beach you go to, some of them are rocky.

Hi there,
My DD is about to turn 18 in late January. We are only a few credits away from being Diamond so I was going to take a quick cruise to get my status up from Emerald to Diamond. This way, I was told my C and A last week, my soon to be 18 year old will inherit Diamond status forever (although her cruise credits will go down to the number of days she cruised, which is less than mine).
Is this right? My friend is saying that when they turn 18, they lose the parents' status completely and drop to what their "true" status would be based on their actual days sailed, which in her case would be even under Emerald.
I need to decide if I want to take this cruise in Early Jan ASAP and I really want to know what will happen. I am worried I got the wrong info from the C and A agent last week! I figured you all may know better or may have been through this with your own children. Thanks! Kath
My kids are over 18 now and they did not lose my status when they turned 18.

When we report for the life boat drill, they take your room number they make sure everyone has attended. But say you don't attend, what are the consequences, or are there any?
We know it is 'mandatory' but can they ask you to leave at the first port? Throw you in the brig? What are the consequences for never attending the drill?
Cheers
Len
On our last cruise, we met a couple who skipped it. When they went to their room, the keys were deactivated and they had to wait on a loooonnnnng line at guest services to get it taken care of. Had to attend a lengthy make up session the next day with a review of ship rules, an activities schedule, etc. all while wearing life vests! Just go to the drill.

What is a WOW band??? It's the band around the top of your underwear that magically shrinks a little every day you are on a cruise.....You say "WOW" these underwear are tighter now than six days ago......
Where's the LOL button!?? Joe, you're cracking me up!!

We were on the Liberty 5-night sailing last week.
They had Quest with a standing room only crowd. The Asst. AD hosted and he did a great job ... lots of enthusiasm and interacted really well with the audience.
They did not have Love & Marriage, I asked why and was told that when over 50% of the passengers are C&A then they don't always do it because the audience ends up being too small. Apparently, C&A passengers tend to skip it because they know all the jokes already ...

How can my wife and I get from Civitavecchia to Rome and back in 5 Hours? Any sugestions on what to see in Rome quickly?
Cruised there this past summer ... my advice, any time you're on an international cruise and want to travel farther away from port than you can walk, spend the extra money on an excursion. If there's a problem with your transportation, the ship will wait for you. If you book the travel on your own and miss the ship, you're out of luck and they've got your passports so it'll take days to cross into another country to catch up with the ship. Sooooo not worth the risk!

Welcome to the newcomers. This is one fantastic group of motivators. They are so able to pick us up when we feel down and discouraged. There are lots of successes on this thread, and it makes us all want to join them.
Ciao,
Nikki
Thanks Nikki!
I have a question for WW users ... unlimited fruit, zero points. right? What about dried apricots? If I calculate the points on the package it's 2 points per serving, that's TEN for the bag!! Count those points, or not??

I had a great week this week and was down 1.8 at my WI yesterday for a grand WW total of 87.8 (91.4 over all). For the first time in a long time I was vigilant about tracking every day and actually had weekly points left over and everything!! Yippee.
I have been struggling this past year with the same two pounds and had crept up about 10 pounds from my WW lowest of 92 lbs lost. I've had to get back to my chants and mantras as well as tracking!! It's amazing how much better I am at this when I track every day. It is also great having you folks to chat with!!
Well done all and keep up the greatness!!!
Melanie
How are you doing it? I'm down about 80 and I'm missing food! Hard to stay motivated!!!

Hello,
Does anyone want to join me doing the Weight Watchers point system? I'm looking to lose 21 pounds by October 2013 (target cruise date). Let me know so that we can loose together.
Thanks.
Count me in!
Sailing in 69 days!
I'm on my tenth week

Thank you for going to so much time to provide the menus.
We're only going to eat in "pay for" restaurants for one or two nights so your posts really helped. I think we're going with Cirque and Le Bistro.
Are Legends and Blue Man dinner shows too?

Good deals on port days depending on how many open spots they have on the calendar. I'd wait. Unless there's something you're particularly excited about doing.
