  1. This thread perfectly illustrates why one size does not fit all re: river cruising. For some, as illustrated in this thread, wine choice is important. OTOH, if you cannot drink due to medical conditions, or are a light, occasional drinker, wine choice is not a big deal.

If wine is important, then find a cruise line that makes you happy. There is no reason to disparage cruise lines simply over their wines.

Where is the "LIKE" button on these boards? This post needs one.

Good lord, sometimes cruisers can be unbearably pretentious.

If you want 5 or 6 star cruise ships, buy a suite somewhere on the Seabourn or something.

  2. Research ahead of time is a very good thing. Try "Things to Do" for each port that you visit on Trip Advisor. Cruise line excursions are not only ore expensive but also more crowded, in general. It would be very confusing to disembark at a port and face all the people hawking their services and select one with any likelihood of getting specifically the trip you would want.

  3. Portmaster, thank you again for your input. You've given us many very good ideas to spending a day in Martinique, but I would like to go back to a question asked earlier for which I did not see an answer.

What changes in your thoughts for things to do/see would you make for a Sunday visit?

Thank you for your time again.
