  1. For the two older ones you could use something like this, it’s a travel booster. We used it for my daughter for this purpose (excursions and airport transport) when she was 4 and we always keep it with us.

Or you could try something like this that would fold and is technically rated for 0-8 years but I have no personal experience with this one myself. Good luck.

  2. We got the car seat bags to check the car seats and then put the cruise tags on them have them carried on the ship for us. We stick out Puddle jumpers in with the car seats (4yo and 2yo) and that worked for us.

  3. These magnets are super strong. We just used them in the NCL Gem in April. I would buy two sets for a room separator to hang a sheet. They are strong enough to hold an over the door shoe organizer too, we used them for everything. [emoji847] good luck. 657a3235bd5fd5096bde6d38cf0c83c4.jpge28a3a4e6b2f14531e78342ca9fb1e0a.jpg

  4. Sailing on the NCL Breakaway this Sunday with our 20 month old and would like to do the room separator thing with magnets and sheet. What type of magnets and where did you order them? I'm thinking amazon but not sure which ones or how many to order.

    Thanks!!!!!

  5. how did you go about filling it?

We filled it at first with a bucket that we had brought along using water from the showers. Then later on I figured out I could just put the whole pool in the shower and fill it up with "two showers worth" of water and still be able to fold and carry it easy enough. I also emptied it in the shower

We brought the pool and used it a few days out at the pool. We only had a problem one day where we had to move it because we couldn't find a place so we ended up skipping the pool that day. (Side note: I detest chair hogs that leave a towel on a chair with a flip flop and "claim" the chair all day and never use it).

Anyway, it worked out and I would do it again but hopefully my little guy will be out of diapers this time next year for our next cruise.

This is how we divided the room with magnets and sheets on our NCL trip. We also had sound machine and remember the soppy cups. The blow up pool was great for by the pool in an out-of-the-way place. I filled in in the showers by the pool.

A clear show divider is also great to hold smaller items (and shoes) to keep the clutter organized.

  8. Husband and I have done several cruises as a couple and have found that we prefer scheduled dining to anytime (we like table mates!) However, we're now planning our first cruise with a baby, who will be around 9 months old at the time, and we're wondering how practical this will actually be! Any thoughts from people who've done it? Would anytime be better for us?

We took our 11-month-old son and 3.5 yo daughter last year on Carnival for first time. We had earlier dinner. The baby was the easier of the two for sure! The earlier time worked better for us to get them to bed at a reasonable hour and they were less cranky. Sinners can be long so maybe I would have done every other night in main dining room and done buffet or something other nights. The staff entertained our kids when they seemed restless, they were great! We had some small stuffed animals etc but mostly he baby just snacked away and was good. Good luck !

  9. Unfortunately' date=' the people on the phone very often are completely unfamiliar with how things actually are on board. It doesn't hurt to call, but someone on the phone saying you can or you can't means pretty much zero once you're on board. I can see saying to a deck hand "but they said on the phone you would fill my pool" not being successful. Best thing is to bring a small tub that he can use to splash in, or bring your pool and a beach bucket and worst case you put it right by a drain and fill it and empty it yourself, or if you can't find a good place for it, at least it didn't take up too much space in your luggage.

    Best,

    Mia[/quote']

Right. I don't think I'll actually need help from anyone other than DH or grandparents, hoping that we won't be reprimanded. I'll bring the small one and bucket (have to bring it for the beach anyway) and hope for the best [emoji16] cautious optimism

  10. I would go with an inflatable TUB..not a pool. It's big enough for "splashing", but not as large as the pool in your link. You can fill a tub with about 3 ice buckets worth of H20.....and it's easy to empty into a shower or floor drain. You will NOT be able to pick up that pool and empty it in a proper place. You shouldn't just dump the "pool" onto the deck, as it will drain into the pools and contaminate them.

If you only have a shower in the cabin, the tub comes in handy for bathing...which is it's real purpose!

Thanks. My 2-year old is kind of a big boy so I don't know if the tub will still work. It I will dig it out of storage and see. Someone somewhere made a point of mentioning to set up out of the way near one of the floor drains or near a shower for easy emptying. Great help. Thanks.

  11. I'm going on the NCL Gem leaving from NYC in two weeks. This will be my second cruise with kids but first time they will be eligible (at least my older one who is 4.5 yo) to actually do the kids club.

I did the kids club myself on my first cruise which was Carnival "back in the day" when I was 13 and I LOVED it. I made some great friends and eventually the gang of us started hanging out outside of the club and stayed in touch after the cruise.

Being a teacher now I can see the importance of good staff to lead the groups. I am disappointed that my daughter won't be able to be in the same group as her 7-yo cousin, but I understand why they do that, to keep the activities age-appropriate. This way they will also make new friends.

I'm crossing my fingers that they get "good counselors"

I was wondering if anyone has firsthand knowledge of people using a small inflatable baby pool like this onboard NCL pool decks?

On our last cruise (last February Carnival Conquest) I didn't see anyone using one but Pinterest and forum boards abound with advice to bring one for non-potty train kids. I did bring an inflatable bath on our last cruise but never brought it on deck.

I will be cruising with my almost 5-year-old (not the issue here) and just barely 2-year-old (just beginning the potty training process). I have the small pool in the picture that I bring with us to the beach in he summer so and was hoping to use it on the pool deck on our April cruise on NCL Gem.

I was also wondering where you get he water to fill it, showers?

TIA for any advice. Getting excited, less than two weeks away!!!! [emoji16]

  13. With some very powerful hooks like these I got on amazon (link at bottom) you can hang shoe organizers , sheets as room dividers or anything. Just bring your office supply binder hooks and you don't have to poke holes in anything.

  14. I cruised with my then 10-month-old son and 3.5 yo daughter for the first time in February 2015 and brought the same high-powered magnets (as mentioned above) and made a "baby room" for my son. AMAZING!

We had an alarm clock with sound machine which did double duty since most rooms don't have alarm clocks. Also bring a power strip (without surge protector as per cruise line policy) to plug extra electronics in.

We also brought a clear over-the-door shoe organizer that we attached to the wall with aforementioned magnets to keep baby shoes, charger cables, diapers, wipes, toys, you-name-it within easy reach. We had an umbrella stroller which saved us, plenty of disposable bibs and travel size dish soap to wash our bottles in the sink as well as detergent to wash necessities in the sink.

There are a few Pinterest boards on this topic which I found amazingly helpful.

Don't forget ziplock bags for pilfering snacks from the buffet. And a couple of toys for the beach. Also brought the inflatable tub for bath if you don't have s suite.

We are going on our second cruise with the kiddies in two weeks and getting psyched. Good luck!
