Pants are fine if they are modest -- generally cover up with a long top-nothing tight against the body -- men can leer at you and make you uncomfortable if you are inappropriate. I saw some women at the pyramids in tank tops and short shorts And they stood out like sore thumbs. You would not wear such clothing in the Vatican or in a house of worship for respect. This is their country's moral value. When in Rome . . . .[/QUOTE]
Sometimes, Yanks are so sloppy. I would only wear long pants - men or women. Being only 5 foot, 2, Capris come to my ankles. I buy them instead of slacks that I have to hem up, or, I buy petite slacks. Wearing loose, long clothes is actually cooler than to have your skin exposed to the elements. (I am an Esthethician, Scots-Irish, and try to hide from the sun.) I have had 2 surgeries on my nose for Basal Cell Carcinoma and I will have my SPF hat and umbrella in Israel & Egypt.
BTW, no matter the number on your bottle of SPF, you must reapply it every 2 hours because it gets absorbed, as well as sweated off.
I also have 2 Jilabs that my Sister bought me. Long, loose dresses with long sleeves. I will wear them on the ship as well as on the shorex to keep cool. Great thread. Thanks for all the tips.

The Armed Guards provided by the Government of Egypt travel in front of, as well as behind the Conoys.
You do not drive around in your van alone - always in a conoy.

Can anyone tell us about the cartouches? I understand that the tours all have vendors who take orders on the first day and pick them up on the return to the ship.
What kinds of prices can we expect to pay and did they accept US$? I want to make sure that we carry enough cash with us to cover shopping as well as the tours. Thanks
I clicked on an ad in cruise critic and found this one. How unusual that they sell "souvenirs." http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=32

Can anybody tell me if there are any restaurants around the Oberoi hotel to have dinner? Or do you recommend staying at the hotel?
Hi, Beach,
I wrote an e-mail to the Mena Oberoi Hotel Manager and asked to be e-mailed or snail-mailed the menus. Never got a reply. Then, I asked George. Usually, George is very prompt at replying; haven't heard from him either. There are 12 of us in our Ramses Group.
You would think that businessmen would be interested in selling their restaurants to a group of Americans, Canadians, & Ozzies. Also, it is strange that a 5-Star hotel does not have menus on their website.
Does anybody have any menus from Mena Oberoi Hotel restaurants? Thanks in advance.

I wrote to Ron last night and he promptly replied to all my questions.
What a wonderful talent you share with us, Ron.
Thank you for all your hard work. I love to go with you, virtually, to these beautiful countries and enjoy the music, flowers & gardens, rivers and mountains, and to share all the good memories.
Keep up the good work.

I cannot see how to do this.
Can you please give us a Link.
TIA

RICKI:
Any of us would be glad to write to Patrick for you; however, I have scrolled this whole page and no reference to his e-mail address. I know it is somwhere on these 8 pages.
It would have been smart for you to give Patrick's e-mail address. ;)

"its your choice, don't participate. But don't forget that there is a finite amount of space and time on any voyage. Every vista-lounge-hour spent swindling passengers out of bingo money, is another hour lost for things like cultural lectures, cooking demos, and other forms of non-revenue entertainment."
It's all about the On-Board Revenue. What a waste of time.
I would rather throw my money at the shore excursions, boutiques, spa, and scholarship@sea classes. ;)

DEBBIE:
Thank you, so much, for the fine S.A. Review.
Journaling at its finest. I surely appreciate all your time and trouble to post these wonderful writings.

Barbara, As Gixer has not replied to your question yet I looked at the Penguin Lady video in question and I think that since I recently visited that I can answer your question. Yes, it could happen. Often? I would think not. Most people would not be willing to stretch out on the ground like that in that mess. But, this woman did and a young penguin walked over her legs. Totally believable from my experience at Sparrow Cove, but probably not a daily occurence. Debbie

Here is another. Watch to the end.

But if they can book the full package, then the package is commissionable (sp?).
Hi, Not anymore. Commissions are paid on basic cruise fare and that alone !!
Air-sea components used to be commissionalbe, no longer. IMO
Cheers.
Princess (as well as others) pays commission on cruise, hotels, and insurance. They do not pay commission on airfare nor on transfers.
The Princess Insurance covers you from the time you walk out your door at your house until you walk back in - IF you have purchased your Air through the cruiseline.
I ONLY buy cruiseline air with a deviation. I want to pick my own flights.

The End of the Earth.
That may be the reason it is called: "The White Continent."
The White is Beautiful. I can hardly wait. :D

Fridge magnets from each persons own country or town/city? Easy to carry/pack easy for Gixer to display. Not disastrous for giver if weather too poor for tendering and the port is missed.
It will be > a year, but I will bring mine from Beautiful Downtown Burbank or, maybe Hollywood.
Duty free shop Barcelona port?

Is this the same dock for NCL EPIC? I understand that NCL is very strict.
