  1. There is the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Beach, it has good size rooms and a very comfortable bed, some of the rooms had a panoramic ocean view with approx 50 feet of glass, overlooking ocean, pool, sea breeze drive, and looking north towards Fort Lauderdale and the intercostal waterway.

We were in room 613a. Gets a little warm in the room due to all of the Windows. Its around $139 per nite.

  2. No you do not have to have passports. The only problem would be if you had to fly back from any of the ports(other than Florida). If you missed the ship, were ill or injured and had to be detained, etc.. The new passport regulations are very confusing. You do not need them for cruises until June 2008 unless your departure port is not in the US, i.e. San Juan.

Thank you Mary, you help me too!

  3. We're cruising in the Carnival Elation 12/17- 22, and have time off from work 12/15-Christmas.

Southwest opens flight bookings on Thursday 5/19, and I need some advise on where to stay in Jacksonville. We plan on flying in precruise with at least 1 hotel night, though I'd rather fly on the 15th (the 16th is my birthday)... I'm also looking at staying post cruise just so we don't have to rush to the airport but it's completely dependent on Southwest, Christmas is on a Sunday, we leave the ship on Thursday.

Hoping to stay in a budget up to $150 per night, and would like to stick with Uber or Taxi for transport if not included in the room.

Hope you have enjoyed your Christmas vacations, not sure for what service you decided, but here is another one in case you need it in the future, for Jacksonville I book for a jacksonville airport shuttle is a good service, drivers are so professional in their job.

If you are staying at the Northside area you can find lots of different hotels, we stayed ones at the Red Roof Inn (65-70dlls per night). The easy way is to rent a JAX airport shuttle booking directly from the Internet, that worked for us. Its going to be an awesome trip at a Carnival Cruise!!

  5. I am a first time cruiser looking at the liberty ship out of Galveston. I read on the site where you use either a debit or credit card or cash for a "deposit" assuming u plan to charge stuff. My question is since they put a hold on the debit card which is what I will have to use....we have 2 adults and 2 kids....do they put the hold on it per person, per room, per adult or how does this work? I am trying to budget for everything so just trying to prepare. We plan on paying for cash whenever possible but read on the ship we would have to use either kind of card.

    Thank you for any input:)

I do not recommend use a debit card on a cruise, some lines put a 72 hour hold on 2X the amount of all onboard purchases, just be careful.

  6. Introduction: My husband is 65 and I am 61. We are plain, simple, small town people who spend our winters in our own place in Belize. Otherwise, our usual vacation style is down to earth, self directed, self catering, VRBO-ish, etc.

The process: For his 65th birthday, the mister decides he would like to take BC Ferries up the inside passage to Prince Rupert and then Alaska Ferries to explore further north. I did research and found it outrageously expensive. Enter cruising. We are booked on HAL Noordam...and I am freaking out.

The dilemma: I went shopping yesterday and spent almost $1000 on fancy (to me) clothes, shoes and makeup only to find today that I need 'cocktail wear' and 'smart casual' attire. I googled it and I don't have anything that resembles what I found. I am sooo not sparkly or button down. I'm 5'9" so I don't wear heels. I crochet a lot of my own scarves/shawls/wraps. I happily spend my winters barefoot, in long t-shirt dresses. The mister doesn't care _at all_ if he doesn't fit in. I am dying.

The solution: ...help me if you can sympathize!

Your life is soooo amaziiing!!! dont worry about the dress, you can complement it with a cute blazer

  7. Hi to all my future fellow passengers on the Navigator of the Seas. Booked this cruise to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Cruising itinery was reason for choosing this cruise as all of the ports are historical and interesting, particularly the 2 day stopover in St Petersburg. To maximise our time in this iconic city we have booked a 2 day Imperial Splendours with Alla Tours who are based in the city. Their tour programme is varied and looks very impressive. Should be a special cruise for us and hopefully we will meet some new friends. Can't wait! :)

Wish you the best of luck from Los Angeles. C.A. :D

  8. Hi 1cruise, since there are not much differences between the two options, and this will be the first total cruise experience for you and your family, I'll choose the 1st one. I'm pretty sure you are gonna have so much fun either way ;)

The rates are really good for a balcony room
