  1. c 312 is an inside cabin, which backs onto the launderette. It should be ok as the launderettes are clost at 10 pm. On the deck plan for c deck there is empty space near c 312 and was wondering if it could be a problem with noise. c 312 is a disabled access cabin, which we need.

  2. It has been my experience that the back rows are for disabled people. Sadly all to often the seats are taken by able bodied people. I am not going to get into a debate about all of this.

One other point. When we have muster before we set sail, the last thing we are asked is to let disabled passengers use the lifts. This seldom happens.

  3. The first thing we do when we get on board is cancel the auto tips. I am old school and like to do it my way. Cash in an envelope. We also put a little card in saying thank you. If the service is good then the tip is good, if service is poor the tip is poor. Happy to say most of the time we have had good service. There is a good chance that by paying cash is cost us more than auto tips. I should add that I always treat all the staff who serve me with respect and if they have time have a chat with them.

  4. I for one think it is a good thing. What I would like to see is a time limit put on it. If muster is called at 4.15 anyone who has not swiped in by 4.30 should receive some kind of punishment (unless they have a valid reason for being late). How about their cruise card de activated, then they will have to go to reception to get it re activated. Most people get to the muster station in plenty of time, then have to sit waiting for the people who think they can just take their time in getting to it. On my last cruise the muster was called and it was a good 40 minutes before it started and even then people came strolling in. They were not late arrivals as the gangways were cleared before muster was called.

  5. I have been on about 20 P&O cruises and have never had afternoon tea.

However on the old QE2 I did have afternoon tea and that was special.

Like it or not, things are changing and the reason is to cut costs/increase profit.

As far as P&O are concerned, I suspect their attitude is like it or move on to another cruise line.

I still long for the days when dress codes were enforced, now on a two week cruise it's 4 formal nights and that is it. Give it a few more years and formal nights will be a thing of the past. Jeans and tee shirts will be worn in the MDR most nights.

Put it all together with cost cutting and cruises will never be the same.

  6. The Liverpool cruise terminal was never intended for cruises to start and finish from. It was built as a port of call. .

The money to build the terminal was given on the understanding that it would only be used as a port of call. However, the powers that be in Liverpool have pulled a fast one and it looks like cruises will depart from Liverpool

  7. Have done Med cruises lots of times in June or July and never had bad seas, but that is not say it can't be rough, just that we are lucky. Early this year we did a 28 day cruise to the Caribbean from the UK and back and never had one rough day. As I say we have been lucky.

  8. Tokyo, thank you for responding! I didn't know if the pass would be worth it for one day, but it sounds like it might be. I wasn't able to figure out the ticket machine in Germany. Perhaps I can purchase a pass from tourist info. We will be docked at Stadsgården. Is there a detour between our ship and Gamla Stan?

I was not in Stockholm on a cruise ship, but I have done the walk twice when on a cruise. From what I saw it is still possible to walk from the dock to the Old Town. The correct name for the pass is Travel card. You can buy one at most metro stations. If you do walk to Gamla Stan, when you have finished your sightseeing there is a metro station called Gamla Stan which has connections to most of Stockholm. I would advise you to do some online research to find a decent map of the transport system in Stockholm. With a decent map and a little planning you would be able to see more of Stockholm than on a tour. Also, it would be cheaper. It is possible that your cruise line may run a shuttle bus to the Old Town.

  9. Hi all. Has anyone been to see the tower, if so is the area around the tower ok for scooters. We are on a coach trip from our ship, so no problem getting the scooter to Pisa, just wondered if there would be problems when we get there. Such as high kerbs etc.

    Cheers Phil

  10. Having been all over Europe I can say that there is no way that anyone can pretend to be a non tourist. As for cameras etc. I have two of the smallest DSLR's that canon make. One has an 10-18 mm lens on it and the other 17-50 mm lens. I wear a pair of shorts with a large pocket, that has velcro, zip and safety pins to keep it secure. One camera is always in the pocket, the other around my neck, which I always have one hand on. I very seldom take credit cards ashore, just my cruise card. I work out how much cash I will need, which seldom is a great deal, and take that. I use a small back pack to carry a bottle of water, memory cards etc.

  11. Having just spent 3 days in Stockholm I can say that it is easy to get around Stockholm on public transport, a 24 hour pass is about £10 and gives you unlimited trips on the busses, tram's and trains. As for the Old Town, depending on where your ship docks it's possible to walk to it in less than 20 mins.

Be aware that around the bridge that takes you to the Old Town there is a great deal of building work in progess.

Would suggest that you look online to download an ap about the Stockholm transport system.

  12. If anyone is thinking about an inside cabin for a cruise I can give the thumbs up to R407. It has plenty of room. It is near the mid ship lifts. Would like to make the point that we did not hear any noise from the deck above or the lifts. We have just spent 28 days in this cabin and think it was great.
