Just thought I would update everyone! We just got back from our cruise and we had no problem driving to Emerald Lake using my birth certificate and Indiana drivers license! I would have gotten a passport if I would of had time but when we realized Emerald Lake was in Canada we only had 8 days left till we left....I'm glad it worked our so well!

Thank you! Do you know if we will be charged for an incoming call to our state room? Or would my parents be charged? I don't see that info...for an emergency the charge would be fine, but now I'm wondering if they could call us on the at "sea days" so we can talk to the kids...

We are sailing on the Jewle next week to Alaska. We are leaving our three kids with my parents. I know we will have our phones on airplane mode while on the ship. I am wondering if there is a fast way for my parents to reach us in case of an emergency? Thank you!

Our cruise leaves and returned in Seattle and we did check and I do not need a passport for the cruise. I called the rental car company and asked if I needed a passport to go to Emerald lake and he said no, I didn't trust him so he gave me the number for border control. We called the border control in Skagway and they said as long as I have my drivers license and birth certificate I will be fine! Im still a little nervous but we are going to go for it. I would get a passport but I don't have time as we leave in less than two weeks.

We are planning to rent a car in Skagway to drive to Emerald lake we just realized today that Emerald lake is in Canada. I don't have a passport and we leave in less than 2 weeks. Has anyone gone to Emerald lake without a passport?

we are tanking the Jewle on June 11th and it does clearly show we will be sailing the east side going and the west side coming back. I will ask about it when we leave. I have never been to that part of the country so I won't know what I'm missing but after reading these comments, I do hope they take the advertised rout!

We are taking the Norwegian Jewel from Seattle to Alaska and back. What is the best deal for transportation from the airport to the cruise ship? We found a van for $16 per person each way. But we wondered if a taxi would be better? Also when we return we are planning to site see in Seattle for the day before our flights leave. We are planning to use the bag program to take our luggage from the ship to the airport but we wondered if there is a locker somwhere that we could leave our carry ons in while we check out the town? We are going the same week as you and just booked a few days ago. But we will be on the Norwegian jewel. Today I booked a rental car in Skagway for $100 for the day from Sourdough car rental. We are planning to drive to emerald lake and a few other locations. It's the same road that all the busses take for the bus/train tour. If you look at the map it's the only road with in a 100 miles so I don't think we can get lost 😜🤔. I'm really excited about that day as we are more independent and are not entirely sure how much we will like the cruise, but we wanted to try it. I also like that we will be able to stop and take pictures when we want and for how long we want.

I also just booked a whale watching cruise with Harv and Marv in Juneau but they may be booked now...

Thank you all so much for the tips! I am not very tec savvy and I am having a hard time figuring out the roll call thing. I will try to have my husband look into it for me to tonight. He is much better at computers than I am. We looked up the train ride and the price we got was $260 each that seemed a little high for us. We will deffanetly plan on the whale watching cruise!

We just booked our first cruise! We will be going June 11-18 on NCL the Jewle. I have lots of questions but for now, what are the must see shore trips and which ones would you say are overrated? It will just be my husband and I we are leaving our kids with grandma and grandpa! We are not very adventuris people but we do enjoy nice scenery, animals nature stuff. We don't drink alcohol or go to wild clubs. If that will help you, help us 😃 Thank you in advance!
