  1. I sailed on Celebrity Beyond in December and noticed quite a few people coughing and sneezing and not covering their mouths.  I also noticed quite a few sick hosts/hostesses and wait staff in the dining rooms.  I wore a mask the majority of the time and noticed others wearing one.  A retail clerk in one of the ship's shops told me that several crew members had COVID and management wouldn't allow staff to wear masks. I overheard a woman tell her partner that she had told others in their group that she had COVID.  Fortunately, I didn't get it!  I will continue to cruise but will wear a mask when I'm in a crowd.

  2. Has anyone taken the Celebrity Beyond Destination Highlight: Panoramic Island Drive excursion in George Town, Grand Cayman?  We booked the tour and its 4 hrs 30 min.  The excursion includes a stop at the Seven Mile Beach for snacks, a drink, and photo taking at the beach.  Wondering how much time you actually stay at the beach and if we should take our bathing suits. All of the beach excursions are sold out.  Thanks!

No, it's not.  For a direct flight to the States you need to be at the airport three hours prior, or 8:05 AM in this case.  It's about an hour by car from the ship to the airport, but there's no way to be sure you could get off the ship right at 7 AM.

    Thank you so much!

We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza but now stay at the Westin in Long Beach.  Really nice hotel, with an excellent restaurant and bar in the lobby and a little coffee place to grab something quick in the morning.

Rate is excellent for our cruise in December.

I'm booked to stay at the Crowne Plaza in San Pedro pre-cruise.  This will be my first time at this hotel and cruising out of Los Angeles.  May I ask why you chose to stay at the Westin in Long Beach instead of the Crowne Plaza for your December cruise?

    YES.

    This hotel:

    https://www.ihg.com/crowneplaza/hotels/us/en/san-pedro/laxpv/hoteldetail

Located about three blocks from the cruise terminal.  Several good restaurant choices within about a two block radius.

Along with the Doubletree in San Pedro (a little ore tranquil location but a ittle more out-of-the-way), the only two hotels in San Pedro I'd recommend.

    Thank you again.

Click on the map link below. It shows LAX to Checkers to the World Cruise Center. You go NORTH from LAX, away from where the cruise port is, and then you cover the same ground the next day, backtracking to the port. Shame on NCL for booking such a thing.

As to San Pedro, I like the DoubleTree better as a hotel, it is a great setting, but I prefer the location of the Crowne Plaza and the ease of walking to several restaurants.

Is the Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel the hotel you're referencing?

We're cruising on NCL Bliss in March out of Los Angeles and this will be our first time cruising out of Los Angeles. Any information that experienced cruisers can share will be helpful!  We're flying into LAX the day before our cruise and not sure what hotel to book.  NCL had booked us for a night at the Hilton Checkers in Los Angeles and a cruise critic reader informed us that we would be better off staying near LAX airport or in San Pedro.  Is the DoubleTree hotel in San Pedro near the cruise ship terminal?  The website shows that there is no shuttle service from the hotel to the cruise terminal.  Any other recommendations for San Pedro stay?  How far is the cruise terminal from LAX airport?  Need to know so we know what time to book our return flight home.  Thank you in advance.

I did the same as the above poster.  I went to my C&A page and took a screenshot and sent it in.  Granted the next day.

Thank you for your advice.  For some reason, when I did that I received a reply from MSC stating that my screenshot was unclear and I need to provide a copy of my loyalty card showing my RCCL status.  I reached out to RCCL C&A Society and received an email from a representative with my information. 👍🏽 I submitted that to MSC and received my Voyagers Club membership number shortly thereafter. 🙂

I matched in the same program this January. I simply sent a screen shot of my C&A page. In JPEG format.

I did that and received a message stating that the document was unclear.  I finally reached out to RCCL C&A Society and they were kind enough to send me an email with my information.  MSC accepted that.  I now have MSC Voyagers Club membership.  😁

  10. I have Diamond status on Royal Caribbean and would like to status match with MSC cruise line for the Voyager Club.  I provided MSC with my RCCL Crown & Anchor Society member number and a post from the RCCL website that includes my C&A number and my status.  MSC is stating that the documents are unclear🙄.  Has anyone requested a status match on a cruise line?  If so, what documents did you provide?  TIA.

  11. Some cruise lines have designated hotels that they use.  I travel solo a lot and when I book the cruise I ask for hotel recommendations and usually book a hotel with them.  The hotel also provides shuttle service to the cruise terminal.  I ask the concierge or hotel staff about nearby restaurants and I google nearby sites before going to the hotel.

    Thanks.  Didn't see anything specific.

Yes I see the price for the date that we need, so can see it's a good price.  Wondering people's experience though, if reliable, etc, non-refundable cost (website doesn't say so I assume so), etc

I've always used ValueTrips to book Hyatt Place hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. I don't have any complaints. Restaurants, shopping, and grocery shopping are within walking distance.  There is also a Riverwalk trolley that can take you around. The hotel rates are reasonable and your credit card is charged when you check in.  If you decide to cancel your stay, call Hyatt Place directly to cancel.

I have not, but I've stayed in the same area (Hyatt Regency, InterContinental and Kimpton) and the area is great.

I am curious where you are seeing "mixed" reviews? It gets very good reviews on Google and TripAdvisor.

We looked at the hotel website and the recent comments were mixed (dirty bathroom, thank God not on my dime, good location, great spot for visiting Miami, etc.).

I recently sailed on the Beyond as a solo at the end of June.  I had the Single Edge Balcony room and it was quite nice.  The pools on the ship are awesome, especially the plunge pools on the top.  I was on for 9 nights and it was quite port intensive.  I noticed there were plenty of activities and I usually partake in the Casino.  One of the highlights of the trip was meeting Captain Kate.  You will see her around.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your feedback.  I don't usually participate in many activities.  During the day, I choose to find somewhere quiet and read.  But in the evening I want to listen to live music and dance.  Any suggestions for evening activities besides the casino?   TIA.

  15. I'm booked on a Southern Caribbean December cruise on the Celebrity Beyond.  This will be my first Celebrity cruise.  I'm looking for feedback on sailing solo on Celebrity.   I've cruised solo on RCCL and NCL and felt comfortable because there is so much to do.
