  1. Sea Princess is due in at about 1400 hrs tomorrow and I think she is probably 10-12 hrs away if you include the river and berthing.

I queried the stooging around out from Gladstone or in that vicinity. They had a medivac situation and then had to wait on the chopper to refuel for another run out to them.

Daughter said it was bad yesterday arvo and last night. Define Bad!! She said she could hardly walk down the passageways without hitting the sides.

  2. Hey SeaDog-46

    Good info.

Apparently quite a few disembarked today in Cairns. Passengers have been advised that the Sea Princess will proceed South slowly with a probability of putting into the bay between Fraser Isl and the mainland (Hervey Bay). They will wait there until weather abates enough to push thru' to Brizzy. About 10 hrs of what is still forecast to be roughfrom the end of Fraser to inside Morton.

  3. Sea Princess has advised passengers:

Port of Brisbane will be closed to them on Sunday.

Sea Princess is leaving Cairns now to sea and will return to Cairns tomorrow Friday at 9.00am for any passengers wanting to make an alternative way home. She sails at 1.00pm, 1300 hrs, Friday and will head towards Brisbane.

Sea Princess is now expected into Brisbane on Tuesday afternoon.

Someone earlier suggested they will go around Oma to the east. A long track but fits the time.

Or they have the option of Gladstone or into Great Sandy strait behind Fraser as a weak option.

  4. Sea Princess (have family on board for the current cruise) was supposed to relocate from Cairns to Port Douglas overnight. Is now in Cairns for another day (bus tours to Port Douglas for those booked) and will not go via Willis Island. Kuranda Skyrail was out of action due to a storm last night.

Due in Brizzy Sunday morning. If they do, there may be a few people kissing the tarmac as they come off.

Saturday nite from Bundaberg down looks rather unpleasant at this stage.

  5. We stayed 5 nights at the Brook Green Hotel in Hammersmith last year. 650m to the Tube. Although they do not have a lift (and we were on the 4th floor) they have a great breakfast. There is a Tesco 100m away and a Tesco express at the Tube station. We ate well for 5 per night as someone further back suggested. Hammersmith is on the Piccadilly line from Heathrow and it is very easy to get anywhere from there. We would go back if booking in London.

  6. We were last at Southampton port in 2015 arriving on Royal Princess. We had friends to visit in Southampton so walked off ship and taxis were right outside. Remember well because we took one.

Pre-cruise we took a bus from Heathrow that included a stop at Stonehenge. We flew in day before. They picked us up at our hotel, stopped at Stonehenge for little over an hour and then on to the port in plenty of time. I can't remember the bus company name but found them through the LondonToolKit site. I think they have the same type of packages from Southampton back to London. I think it may be same company mentioned above.

We will be disembarking there in August on NCL Jade and plan to use same company to get back to London.

    Hope this helps.

Wondering if we may get some help. Similar issues.

We are holding on a package that includes flights from Australia to Heathrow and a cruise on NCL Jade from Southampton.

The crazy thing is that the ship berths at 8.00am (on a Sunday) and we are booked to fly out of Heathrow at 11.25am. Someone has screwed up but they want another $500 to change the flight. The private shuttles all offer transfers to Heathrow in 75-85 minutes so that is doable, especially on a Sunday.

The Cruise is Norway, Shetlands, Iceland and back to UK.

Does anyone have experience with NCL and or Southampton to comment on these questions.

Would we have to do Customs after that cruise?

If we berth at 8.00am, how soon could we walk off taking all our bags?

    Is it doable?

We would have maybe an hour and a quarter at Heathrow T2 which is fairly automated (kiosk check in, stick the bags on the conveyor yourself etc).

    Thanks

  7. The OP is doing this cruise in Europe and Customs will not be an issue for them. They should just walk off the ship, collect their bags and be gone.

They should be able to disembark very soon after the arrival time in Rome, as it is not the main disembarkation port for the cruise.

  8. We are holding on a package deal that includes flights from Australia and a cruise On NCL Jade from Southampton to Norway, Shetlands, Iceland and back.

The issue is that the scheduled berthing time is 8.00am on Sunday Sept 3. The flight time allocated is 11.25am from Heathrow. Crazy but true and the wholesaler said take it as is or pay another $500 to change the flights.

We can get a private transfer to Heathrow for considerably less than that which takes 80-90 mins by car.

So my questions to the community are these.

Do NCL allow walk offs with all bags (no issue to us to take them off)?

How soon after berthing might we get to walk off?

With a cruise like this how long could Customs take? would we even do Customs?

It is technically feasible if we can walk off at 8.30am and be in the car at 8.45am.

Am I dreaming? I know the person who put the package together certainly is!

    Thanks
