Golden is leaving the Princess fleet in August 2020. No bookings were initially taken beyond that date.
We really need more details from the OP. Yes ships get redeployed to different parts of the world sometimes even after initial bookings for the same time, different place had opened. Not to mentioned individual sailings get chartered. It seems to happen less often on Princess than some other lines. But we don't even know if the OP is asking about Princess in the first place.
My question is just in general. Not 100% related to Princess. I had one canceled by NCL recently and am booked on the Grand Princess for next year (and considering more).....so I was just wondering about CLs canceling in general.
-
Did they state the reason for canceling?
-
Has anyone ever been notified by the cruise line that a sailing (not just one booking) was canceled?

We are eyeing a cruise out of Vancouver - but our Delta Amex card gives us a BOGO each year for flying CONUS....so we'd have to fly to Seattle. What's the easiest way to get from Seattle to Vancouver (roundtrip)?
Thanks!

We are on Independence next summer and they are offering two excursions. First is ‘Windsor &Heathrow’ costs £94.80 and says it is for flights after 3.45pm. Second is ‘Stonehenge & Heathrow’, costs £99.34 and says for flights after 4.30pm. Hope this helps!
Thank you!! This does help a lot!
I did see that for 2019 there are some flights that leave at 8:30pm from LHR. I would assume that similar schedules will be available in 2020.
If you wouldn't mind - would you mind posting the descriptions of each of those tours? Thanks!

Thank you so much for this information! We are planning on spending 3-4 days in London before the cruise and then taking the train down to Southampton. Maybe if we want to see more we should do a day trip from London pre-cruise.
Thank you for your help and links with information!
-
The cruise is not until 2020! It'll be RC Independence of the Seas. It returns on a Sunday.
We'll be flying out of London to BOS.
I know it's probably too far in advance to know what things will be then - but we're hoping to get an idea of what excursions/times will be for 2019.
Thanks for your help!
-
Has anyone taken an excursion after the cruise and then gotten dropped off at LHR? I'm curious what other people's experiences are and what timeline you had? Can we still take a flight out that evening to return to the US?
Thanks!

I have sailed Princess once and NCL 3 times to Alaska. We really do like NCL going to Alaska. Given the choice, I personally would choose NCL or....depending on your age, have you considered HAL?

I have a friend who smokes and is wondering if they a lot less than she pays here in SC.
Does anyone know how much the cartons are? She smokes Marlboro.
Thanks!

Thank you for all the information. It looks like HOHO isn't the way to go in Rome. In the alternative....with having limited time, what is your thought on taking a Tours by Locals tour? Or is it easier to do Rome on our own?
Thanks!
-
This is a really specific question. I'm hoping that someone can help, though.
We're looking to spend a few days in Rome before our cruise. I have a lot of points with IHG and would like to stay at an IHG hotel that is within walking distance to a hop on hop off stop. Can anyone help me with this info?
Thank you!

Thank you for all this information! It helps to know what to expect. I'm glad that we won't have to stand in lines. I do kind of wish we could get a passport stamp from each place we went, though.
Thanks again!
-
Thanks for the info! It would be nice to get a stamp from each as memorabilia, but yeah the long lines would slow things down and I also really don't care to have my passport out of my hands for several days.
We've flown to Europe from the US a few times but have never cruised there. I assume getting off the ship in port is the same as a Caribbean cruise...? Just get on/off with the ship card and passport for photo ID?
-
I'm curious if our passports will get stamps in each port/country that we go to?
Thanks!
-
Thank you for all the input! I think we're going to do the Dawn. It's less expensive and since we're not on the ship much anyway, with having so many ports, we'll go for an inside cabin instead of balcony.
Thanks everyone!

Air fare is similar in price. Miami is easier to go from airport to hotel to port. San Juan may be easy, but we've never been there. In early searches I'm not finding it as simple (as Miami) to go from airport to hotel to port.
Sea days vs port days....if I really had to choose one over the other I would say I like port days. And....with having so many ports we would go for an inside cabin instead of a balcony.
I love the information I'm getting here. Thank you, everyone!

(1) Are both cruises equal in length?? How long can you be gone?
(2) Is price an issue? From what I am seeing the pricing on the Bliss is a bit on the high side.
For me, if everything is equal, I would go Bliss. The Bliss could be a destination all by Herself.
Both are 7 nights, which fits into our timeline that we usually choose. The Bliss is higher in price!
I saw you were on the Escape - how did you like it? We decided that we prefer a smaller boat and new places than a new boat and the same places. We were on the Getaway twice, then scheduled for the Gem (which was cancelled and we went on the Coral Princess) and then booked the Dawn
We loved the Escape. The ship was so big though that we didn't get to do everything on it. We still rate it as one of our favorites.
We don't necessarily prefer larger or smaller ships over each other. I was on the Pearl many years ago (Alaska cruise) and loved it but then we took the Pearl last year and it just wasn't great. Not sure why but it just didn't rank very high with us. (Maybe because we were on the Escape the year before?)
-
What are you leaning towards? It's all about what you want.
We're torn....that is why we're asking for other people's input.
-
We are torn between two cruises:
1...Dawn in March out of San Juan that goes to St. Kitts, St. Thomas, Martinique, Bridgetown, St. Maarten
2...Bliss in January out of Miami that goes to Tortola, St. Thomas and Nassau.
It really boils down to - do we want to take a new ship or go see new ports?
I know no one has been on the Bliss yet, but we did sail the Escape when it was new and liked it a lot. Although the Dawn has several new ports for us.
Which would you choose?
-
I did the ropes course but they did not weigh me (I'm under 200) There was a scale there, though.
The person I was originally going to take that cruise with wasn't able to go.

If we don't use Uber what are some of our other options? We don't mind a shared ride. I did find that Super Shuttle is $34 for two people and Carnival's transportation would be $60 for two.
Are there other shuttle companies that are recommended?
Thanks!
-
Thanks for sharing this. I've never used Uber. Is there any way to book it ahead of time?
-
I haven't been to any of these places yet - but will be the last week of this month. Have you looked into Stone Island in Mazatlan? That looks like it would be a good fit for what you're wanting, possibly.
San Diego and Ensenada on our own?
in California Coastal / Pacific Northwest

We will be on Princess and it has a stop in San Diego and also Ensenada towards the end of January. Are these cities that we can easily get off the ship and walk around? Or is nothing close to where the ship pulls in?
Thanks!
