  1. I always have scissors in my luggage and have never had them confiscated. I purchased a set of chef's knives in Civitavecchia (port for Rome) once and handed them to security when boarding, being aware that I wouldn't be permitted to bring them onboard. I collected them when I disembarked. Why would anyone want to have knives onboard?

Thanks! And I'm talking about multi-tools, not a machete.

  2. Previous cruises I've gone on allowed knives and scissors shorter than a certain length. The website for MSC says "may search and confiscate" any weapons and doesn't add any specifics regarding each object listed? Does anybody know if they also have a length maximum or is it a total ban?

  3. The Sky and Stars(Library) on deck 16 midship.

Thanks. That'll probably be my home for 7 days.

Are you YC or non-YC? I've sailed both ways on the divina and how you answer will determine my recommendation as they are entirely different experiences.

    Non-yc

  4. Yes :(. The gym is small for this size ship. Cardio Machines fill very early with 30 minute time limit and stay full pretty much through noonish. Weights were underused if you lift.

Thanks! So the machines not related to cardio in general are more open?

  5. Monday June 20th-

    1) Awoke to no power in cabin. Trip to concierge fixed issue by the time I was dressed. Something tells me that may not have been fixed so quickly outside of YC.

    2) No treadmill available at 7:30 so I ended up walking the loop on deck 15. Was surprised lots of chairs still available when I finished at 8:15. Those would have been claimed by 8:15 in April.

    3) The sewer smell at infinity pool is a bit stronger than I remember. My guess is there is a sewer vent nearby because I've read about (and experienced) this smell aft on deck 15 more than once.

    4) One pool has scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage for breakfast, but I wanted eggs over easy and fruit so we went to the buffet. Still like the way they cut the fruit on MSC- pieces are small so the taste marinates.

    5) Spent day totally relaxing. Hot tub, pool, lounger, repeat. Surprised how many children are staying in YC. At one point there were 7 kids in one pool but all VERY well behaved.

    6) First time we've seen victor since embarkation was at high tea. I have a feeling our neighbors are keeping him really busy. He is a delight though.

    7) Show was "voices". Did not attend this show last April. It was good. Another partial standing ovation.

    8) We were not in the mood for big long dinner so went to buffet after show for a nice salad. MSC does a very good salad bar. Low and behold I found prime rib! I had to try it and this was the best cut of meat I've had on MSC. I was disappointed that there was no prime last April (as this is something I only eat on a cruise and looked forward to) so this was a nice surprise and positive addition. Bravo MSC.

    9) low lites: none worth mentioning- great day. High lites: high tea experience, prime rib on buffet, casino friendly.

Is the gym that crowded early in the morning?
