There have been comments online before from individuals not happy that friends they linked to could now see everything about their cruise, including financial related information.

Your mileage varies on this one. I've had 2 different cruises, and various linked rooms, but none of us can see the others financial info, except on board credit amount.

We can log into someone else's cruise and purchase something, but must use our form of payment, not theirs, even if saved. Learned that helping my parents.

I thought it was travel agent vs non, but someone else said that's not been their experience.

  2. Open app, make sure you are signed in.

Click on the person icon at the top.

Where it says 'your sailing' click on the 'Select a different Cruise' link.

Where it says 'upcoming Cruise' click show all.

Scroll to the bottom and click ' don't see your cruise? Add it now'

Put the info in, and the screen usually shows thinking and then does nothing. Go back to home and see if it shows both reservations.

  3. We were there on a fully booked Oasis (lots of 4 in the room) and Jewel of the Seas April (Spring Break) 2023. We vetoed the water park and I'm glad we did. The lines for that weren't bad for the first 30 min, but by 11 am the slide lines were long! We heard one person say they waited 45 min for the slide around 12:30pm. Those lines stayed until 4pm, and all aboard was 4:30 for both ships.

Our group had kids 5, 10, 11,12, and 16-18. They just played on all the free stuff and enjoyed themselves. We switched to the back beach and that was quieter with more chairs available.

My college age kids are taking the cruise to Labadee today against my advice. Called RC & rep keeps saying “the resort is a private island” which is not true! State Department issued a clear do not travel advisory to Haiti but RC Exec’s are prioritizing profits over safety. Advisory includes kidnapping & possible sexual violence. Law enforcement is sparse due to lack of leadership. ?

You do realize that these same threats exist at college in the US? Many schools have private police dept, and don't always work with the local police. It's bad public relations for college sexual violence information to get out to the public. 1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men will be sexually assaulted at college on average. I'm pretty sure Labadee hasn't reached those numbers.

  5. Another thing I considered: what would I spend on the drinks I want to have? Just like alcohol packages, what's my break even with a drink package? That helped me know where the price was worth it.

We had $19.99/day for oasis 2023, bought black Friday 2022.

We have $23.99/day for Brilliance in October 2024, bought black Friday 2023.

I think there is some confusion about where the Grandparents are when the youths are trying to board.

Are they with the Grandparents as the Grandparents board with them?

Are the Grandparents on-board but say, in their cabins as the youths board without an adult?

Maybe the OP  @BLAMBKY can clarify.

I read the original post as: parents and grandparents and kids get off ship.

Grandparents are done, kids are done, but parents want to stay on the island and enjoy another drink.  Can the grandparents reboard with the kids and leave the parents on the island?  (See post #4)

We did. My minor got off the ship with his grandparents, we were grabbing waters and hadn't made it off yet.

We went to a different boarding point than the grandparents getting back on the ship.

  7. Isn't it to Royal's benefit to let people pay full price for prime dining reservations, and use the UDP customers to fill in the leftover availability?

Like, getting top price for the 6-8 dining slots makes sense. Land restaurants do the same with happy hours early, and dining specials from 4-6pm.

I don't think that is the case as we booked our most recent Oasis through a TA with linked reservations, and I was the scheduler and could see all the payment information for the linked guest.

That has also been the case on previously linked reservations of ours booked through a TA.

So, your experience may vary I guess. I can't see payment information for linked reservations. And I couldn't see it for our oasis cruise.

However, we linked them at Royal's site, not through our ta. Maybe that's the difference?

  9. We used the linked reservation option for a family cruise last year on Oasis. It was great! I was able to get on and make reservations for the comedy show for the adults, Aqua80 for everyone (but 1 kid, long story, but too many reservations and 5 people in a room complicated the linking a bit), Laser tag, etc. it was easy to pull up and see who in our group wanted to do something, and see if there was enough space for everyone.

I was also able to help get everyone check-in times together because I had that access. It was especially helpful traveling with my parents who are technology challenged. I was able to make the internet and soda package reservations and they just paid for it. Super helpful for them. It was also helpful when figuring out shore excursions and CoCoCay things.

Side note: if you use a travel agent, you can't see payment dates, etc for linked guests.

Last black Friday drinks were not on sale. Excursions were 30% off, which I bought. All but one Lynn was 40% off, so I bought lunches. Wifi for 3 or 4 people one purchase for 3 or 4 people was on sale ..for bigger families I guess. Not on sale for 1 pax.

    Drinks werent cheaper.

They were on my cruise in Sept. 2024 on Black Friday. Drinks were 35% off: $56.99/DBP and $23.99 Refreshment.

Just as when you get lost in the back country or find yourself injured on a mountain top and need helicopter evacuation.

Maybe. Federally: No, you aren't on the hook. States? Maybe. Some states have laws that will bill you if they find you were negligent. Other states have laws that if you were in out of bounds areas, you will be billed for the rescue. It can vary.

Well if you are going on an Alaskan Cruise you will be lucky to get on board before the sailing time.  We took over 5 hours to get through the wording procedure at Vancouver.  Terrible - 6 cruise ships boring and only 13 US customs officers dealing with the process.  Good Luck

    Was that recent?

When we went, September 2017 we had no issues. We boarded in Seattle though. My mother-in-law boarded airline to gate and was on the ship before noon. We boarded hotel - Lyft - gate, and we were on before 1pm.  Regular balcony cabin.

We were checked into our cabin at the gate, and able to go right in and drop our backpacks and such.

  13. Since you are five people, have you considered taking along another family member or babysitter so you can fully participate with the 6 & 4 year old.

We are 3, and taking Grandma along for the 7 year old! It did make picking a itinerary a little easier. The 7 can go to the kids club, and Grandma is excited to hang out with him too (different states normally). Plus, they have about the same walking stamina...[emoji6]

  14. Booking airport to ship transfer last week:

HAL Chat said I had to do it through the TA even though the online website let me add it to the cart. But wouldn't let me check out (I didn't know the transfer was the problem at the time).

Called HAL because the website specifically said I could do it through them. The agent on the phone had no problem adding the airport transfers for me, and taking payment.

    YMMV

  15. Please check out this web page for menus

    http://www.rogerjett-photography.com/specialty-2/

There are three menu items available at every dinner. My young niece fell in love with the steak and had it many nights on our cruise. The servers are usually very good helping the young ones with food choices.

I've seen that webpage. Trust me, in this thread it's hard to miss [emoji6], it must be the only webpage actually allowed to be linked, and that's where I saw the kids menu - which I don't see steak listed on?

And it said menu items are available in 1/2 portions, but that's wasn't super clear to me.

I do not see 3 kids options like you say are available at dinner? Or do you just mean the general menu options?

  16. Ok, I've read it. Though I did skim some of the wine/beverage package stuff.

Kids: we are traveling with my 7 year old. I found somewhere on the HAL site that they have 'kid food'. But he's actually a good adventurous eater, will he be able to eat some of the real food in the dining room? I assume at Lido, we can grab him whatever.

*I'm not trying to be offensive with 'kid food'. It's just easier than typing out chik nug, etc.
