  1. I'm a big believer in travel insurance. I have always purchased it but my reasons why have changed over the years. It used to be because my daughter was going through cancer treatments and could be sick or rushed to the hospital at less than a moment's notice. We have to cancel/postpone a few trips because of that. Thankfully, she's beaten the most horrible disease in the world (twice, I might add) and is now a healthy teenager. Then we started buying the insurance because my husband's work schedule constantly changes. It was difficult to plan anything. Last year, I took a cruise with my mom and our cruise ended up returning back to our home port 5 hours late (someone else had a major medical emergency and we needed to return to the previous port). Needless to say, I couldn't make my return flight home and ended up flying home the next day instead. The insurance paid for all my incurred expenses because of the delay- even down to the bottles of water I bought for my hotel room. I will never travel without insurance.

Glad to hear your story has a happy ending Hoopics! Loved the way you described your ordeal. [emoji12]

  2. Post what tour , most ship tours are well known who the vendors are. There are a lot of experienced posters on this board who can give you first hand information.

I'm looking to book the Glacier Point Wilderness Safari in Skagway, a seaplane in Misty Fjords in Ketchikan, and a whale watching cruise in ICP. Do you know these vendors BudgetQueen? I appreciate your help! :D

  3. Looking forward to my upcoming cruise on the NCL Pearl in September. This will be my second cruise in Alaska and am trying to figure out if it's worth my time (and money saved) booking thru companies other than the cruise ship. Researching the different excursions that I'd like to do, there are some differences in cost/length of excursions/size of groups, etc... These companies also guarantee returning to ship on time and have good cancellation policies. While I don't mind spending the $$, I also love getting a good deal.

With that being said, I was wondering if anyone has ever booked excursions thru the Alaska Shore Excursions company. If so, what did you think? Would you go thru them again? Good or bad, any feedback is welcomed.

  4. I have a ultimate package for me and wife , I noticed if I cancel ultimate and repurchase deluxe, we save $50. Am I losing anything ? I dont see it but just wanted to throw it out and since I used a credit card , how long until I get refund ? Should I repurchase right away so I dont lose sale price or wait for CC to appear.

    thanks

I noticed that they changed packages last week. I had also bought the ultimate package at $49/day. So I called RCL and asked if it is/was the same as the ultimate. They confirmed that it is. So I cancelled the ultimate and purchased the new deluxe package @ $46/day. The refund showed up on my cc transactions within 2-3 days.

Now I see the deluxe package is selling at $44/day. Wondering if I wanna cancel and rebook again. Hope this helps.

  5. Will be sailing on the Liberty of the Seas in October. Wondering if anyone has ever purchased the cruise phone/data package directly thru their cell company (I have AT&T). If so, what did u think of it?

I already know that I'll be needing some type of data package since I'll be texting/face timing, facebook'ing, etc... Trying to figure out which would give me the best access. I've only read negative things about the VOOM on the Liberty. Don't want to spend my vacation waiting for uploads to finish. [emoji16]

Any info or suggestions would be super helpful in helping me choose. Thanks!
