  1. It wasn't guaranteed private since we were in the Starlight Disco, but it was so early (7pm) that no one else was in there. I know our travel agent knew the night and time of the party about two months in advance. Not sure how she did it--mate she just talked to the right person. And we definitely used it as our reception--complete with two cakes--a small one to cut and a sheet cake for the guests.

  2. I have to eat gluten-free so we actually prefer the WJ to the main dining room because I can pick and choose what I want without a lot of fanfare and back and fourth with a waiter. We also didn't have a desire to spend hours every night in the dining room. The only complaint I would have with the WJ on Grandeur was that there were no gluten free dessert offerings short of melted jello. When my fiancé complained, they brought me out Udi's chocolate chip cookies :)

  3. We are getting married next month and decided against doing it on the ship. Our first stop is in Key West, so we are doing a very low-key and non-religious ceremony on the beach at 1pm. We found a couple/wedding planners who do very low-key weddings. I think it ended up costing $1200 total for 40 chairs on the beach, a sound system for the beach, an hour of pictures (they are photographers too), and a trolley to get our 40 guests from the ship to the beach and then from the beach to downtown Key West afterwards for a bar-hopping reception :)

Since we had 40 guests, we got a free cocktail party from RC with an open bar and some passed appetizers for 1 hour so we are using that as our reception later that night from 7-8pm.

  4. Our wedding cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas out of Tampa is in 45 days and I'm unsure about whether or not to do my own hair or use the on-board salon. We leave Tampa on Saturday and get into Key West (where we are getting married) on Sunday. So that leaves no time to do a dry run with a stylist. For anyone who has used a salon on any RC ship...are their stylist usually up-to-date on the newest style trends (beach waves, loose updos etc...)?

    Thanks for any input!

  5. Hi all--we're getting married in Key West on our first stop on the Brilliance of the Seas on April 9th. We are having a one hour reception that evening on the ship (after partying in Key West after the beach ceremony). We are getting a large sheet cake (for a ridiculous $100!) for all of our guests during the reception, but I am gluten free and they said they cannot make a small gluten free cake--that it would have to be a large gf sheet cake. Does anyone know if we would be able to bring a very small gluten free cake on board?

  6. Hi all--so my fiancé and myself and about 40 of our closest friends and family will be on board the Brilliance of the Seas out of Tampa on April 8th and want to get married in either Key West or Cozumel. We are a VERY low-key couple who want a VERY low-key wedding! Our vision was to get off of the ship, find a beach with all of our friends/family, and have my fiance's best man marry us--then go party with everyone. We don't need chairs or an isle runner or an arch--just everyone we care about there to witness our vowels :)

We originally were leaning towards Key West, but it's not really a beach town so now I'm open to checking out Cozumel. Does anyone have any suggestions for a great, non-crowded beach and then a place to head to afterwards to celebrate?
