  1. Hi. I've searched some on these boards, but can't find an answer to this within the past couple of years. When carrying on a 12 pack case of soda, does the soda HAVE to be in your carry on bag or can we simply just carry in on the ship with us in it's card board box? The reason I ask is we have FTTF and our stateroom should be ready right away. I didn't want to waste a bunch of space in our actual carry-ons for it. Thank you!

  2. Hi. There is now a lower rate for the cruise we booked under Carnival's Early Saver rate, but no onboard credit being offered with this current promotion. We currently have a $50 onboard credit we got with a previous promotion. My question is, if we call to get a price adjustment to this new, lower rate, will we lose our $50 onboard credit?

    Thanks in advance!

  3. I would for sure stick with RCCL. I have a 7 year old son and we have been on Celebrity once a few years ago (without my son). My husband and I both agreed that it is not the best line for children. It is a bit more "stuffy" (although I wouldn't say fancier), meaning they don't have a lot of the "fun" type of activities RCCL or Carnival would have. For example, all "night-life" seemed to almost shut down around 10 pm. The one club type place they had, had maybe 20 people in it tops dancing at night. We did not see NEAR as many kids as we are used to seeing on RCCL and saw very few kids even in the main dining room. We are in our 30's and although we saw a couples around our age, the clientele on Celebrity seemed to be over 50. (We didn't choose Celebrity, my MIL did, and we knew most of this going in.) Even traveling without kids I would hands-down prefer RCCL to Celebrity. Hope this helps.

  4. I really don't see what the difference is in leaving a sweater, book, bag, cups/silverware on the table to claim it before getting food versus a "reserved" sign except that the reserved sign is a little more "in your face." Either way someone is reserving the table prior to getting food. It seems many take offense to this sign so maybe a sweater or book would be better though? I've been on numerous cruises and have always placed my sweater on the top of the table prior to us getting food at the buffet. I've never once encountered an issue. I often do this at places where it gets pretty busy at lunch time back at home such a Chick-fil-A. Again, no one has ever said anything and it's never been an issue. If everyone wants to do this before placing their order there, than more power to them. Just my opinion...

  5. They do this on almost all RCCL sailings. I was actually the team captain for our team the last time we cruised. They may ask for things like a man wearing a bra, a man dressed as a woman, etc. It was a lot of fun. They tend get a fairly big audience at their Quests and we had four teams I think. I’m hoping they play it on our Horizon sailing.

  6. I can't imagine ever in a million years being able to consume 15 alcoholic beverages in a day so the limit would never affect me. Just the amount of calories in 15 drinks makes me want to cringe. How in the world can people maintain a healthy weight (not to mention liver) drinking like that?? Lol. I would personally rather eat my calories versus drink them, but to each their own. : )

  7. That's crazy it's all from cans! Is there anywhere on Carnival (specifically the Horizon) where you can get soda in a fountain drink form with the soda package? I MUCH prefer fountain drink Diet Coke to it from a can. We are more familiar with Royal Caribbean and there are numerous venues on their ships where it's a fountain drink. (Our last ship didn't have the Coke Freestyle machines on RCCL, but the bars had it in fountain form.)

I guess when someone orders something like a rum and Coke on Carnival, the Coke comes from a can? That's so weird to me...

  8. Just in case you didn't know, in addition to paying for the cruise itself, the gift cards can be used for just about everything else. On board credit, purchasing Cheers/Bottomless Bubble packages, internet plans, excursions, things from the online Fun Shops, etc. etc.

To apply them to your S&S account as on board credit, you have to wait until you get on board. You can do it at Guest Services or from one of the self-serve kiosks. With the physical gift cards, obviously you just take those along. With the emailed gift cards, just print it out and make sure you include the card number and the PIN.

The only option to do this before your cruise is to use the gift cards to pre-purchase Cruise Cash from the online Fun Shops. Cruise Cash will appear on your S&S account as soon as you're on board. Just keep in mind that Cruise Cash is non-refundable. Use it or lose it. The workaround to not losing any leftover Cruise Cash is to play a couple spins on a slot machine, then cash out at the casino cashier.

Thank you for much for this info. We downloaded the app and have already earned a ton of points. I had no idea about this until this morning since I haven't cruised on Carnival since college... :)

  9. I'm sorry if this has already been answered. I tried to briefly go back and look on this thread, but can you this Carnival Allstate giftcards for onboard credit once you pay off your actual cruise balance? If so, how does that work exactly? Can you get the gift cards applied for onboard credit prior to sailing or would you have to wait and go to guest services once aboard the ship? Thank you.

  10. We've been on Celebrity Solstice about three years ago on an Alaskan cruise. We enjoyed it very much and received some of the best customer service I've encountered while on vacation. They really seemed to go above and beyond. I remember the food being really good, but the desserts left a lot to be desired. (I haven't cruised on RCCL in quite a while so it's hard for me to really make a accurate comparisons.) I will say that there was much less night life than I remembered on RCCL, and there seemed to be less of a younger crowd on board, but that could have mainly been due to the Alaskan itinerary. Hope some of this info is helpful!

  11. We are sailing next summer on the Liberty with the same itinerary, and I found Cruise Compasses from July 2016. They are on a non-offical RCCL-type blog, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the link. (I'm fairly new to this site and not super familiar with all of the rules.) Maybe someone could let me know if I'm allowed to post the link or you could try googling what I just mentioned. I just didn't want to get in trouble... : )
