As Nitemare said-- this isn't taking place in an area of the city that affects you. You'll be able to get an Uber to Charlestown easily. They also run a fun little ferry from Charlestown Navy Yard to Long Wharf coming back which is adjacent and walkable to the North End-- worth doing. Sort of a cheap mini harbor cruise.

Thank you ! We plan to use the ferry after we visit the Constitution. We have also read about the water taxi as a means of returning to the seaport . We previously used the T to return to the ship but were concerned with the effects of the festival crowds on this day. We have not visited during a large event before.

Where are you coming from?  The airport?  Cruise Terminal?  Elsewhere?

The parade is in the Back Bay/Copley area of Boston, so much of the city won't be affected by the pageantry.

We will be  traveling to and from the cruise terminal. We were concerned that ubers might concentrate in the Festival area. Thank you.

  3. The free tram will take you to the entrance. I found the small museum and gift shop

building and the dolphins are on one level and fairly accessible. I sit and watch the dolphins while my husband climbs the hill up to the larger museum in the Commissioner's house and sea walls to view the guns and harbor views. They are very interesting but difficult for me due to the climb.

  4. We were there Saturday and Sunday in June. There are cabs lined up on the pier. There are people to direct you to the correct line. We stopped to speak to a gentleman outside the cabs on Saturday night to check if any drivers would be there on Sunday. He said some drive on Sunday. We were two people. We walked to the pier. A man explained the prices were fixed and that it was best to have four people to share the cost. We waited a few minutes and he found two single people who agreed to tour with us. He then talked to drivers and directed us to one who would give us the island tour. It worked great.

  5. We have a cruise on the Emerald Princess booked. We leave from Brooklyn.

. We will be traveling with someone who will need to bring four cases of feeding tube meals onboard. Who do we talk to about this? Anyone dealt with this before? Thanks for any advice. They have never cruised before and we would like to ease their way.

  6. We did it in June 2022. It was very interesting. It lasted much longer than planned as the Town Cryer knows everyone and they all stop to say hello. We enjoyed it very much. He shared a lot of information but kept it very light and fun. You stay up in the area around the town hall and down to the beautiful Victoria Park. You do not go down towards Front Street. Ed Christopher is a Bermuda treasure! If you enjoy hearing local lore you can not miss with him.

Just curious, what do you want to see? Outside of the State House, I can't imagine going to Beacon Hill. Unless you are using it as a starting point for a Freedom Trail hike.

We were interested in the State House and the picturesque streets. We hoped to work our way down to Copley Square and the Public Garden.

The State House is at the top of the hill so based on what you said it would be a good spot. Depending on the time of day 21st Amendment right there is a fun pub. Id walk down from the State House and make a right on Joy St-- get a little lost in and walk down to Cambridge Street. Make a left and walk down to the Liberty Hotel (former Charles Street Jail). Go poke your head in for either a drink/snack or just to see the lobby which is impressive and incorporates a lot of the elements of the old 19th century prison.

From there walk out and cross over past the T and walk down Charles Street back towards Boston Common/Public Garden. There are a bunch of shops and stores along Charles that are too many to mention individually but you'll find things that interest you. A spot for lunch that used to be a favorite when I lived there is 75 Chestnut which is tucked away just off Charles-- its owned by the same people that own Cheers but its much less touristy and I think better food.

From there you are back at the Public Garden-- go for a walk through it.

Thank you. You mentioned several places we had not read about. We will map out your suggestions.

  9. We were on deck 2 OV for this May's Bermuda/Bahamas . We had no noise and little ship motion. We would stay on deck 2 again as it was easy to get on and off the ship in port. We did not have to wait for an elevator to get down to deck one.
