    Belize - inexpensive things to see/do while visiting

    One of my favorite things was cave tubing w/ Vitaleno Reyes which is the #1 ranked thing to do on Tripadvisor.com. It's $50pp but that includes transportation and lunch.

    There were people from about age 8 to in their 70's. Hike thru the jungle and get a nature talk for about 45 min, then a leisurely float down the river thru some caves.

    We are doing this in Feb with Butts Up tours. I think it's $35 per person with the cave float and lunch. Must get off ship in Belize City and you pay after the tour.

    First time in NOLA, need advice

    With my work schedule and kids in school summer is the only time to go. I work retail so from the end of October to the January 1st is blacked out for taking any vacation time. That leaves spring break as the only other week to do a vacation. Where I live my kids don't get a full week off for spring break. To take them out of school is hard now also with them in Jr. High and High School. So if we want to vacation then summer time it is![emoji3]

    Cruising Snobbery

    I don't know that I'd call it "cruising snobbery" but it seems a lot of people want to seem more important or in the know than others. Especially others they will never see again. I remember one man at our MDR table, no matter what you said, he could top it. If you said you'd played golf with the Pope, he'd say he'd played with God. It got to be pretty funny.

    Thanks Saint Greg. I got Hilton Riverside for our Feb cruise. It was $126 per night, $165 after taxes, but it was still cheaper than anything else around there. You are appreciated! Thanks.

    MSC- Never again

    The best has yet to come. You will be very impressed with Divina the minute you set foot on her.

     

     

     

    We weren't. Never again like the op stated. Pools were closed on sea days, buffets were closed for breakfast. Bars were closed. DH and I actually lost weight the food was so bad. One bartender said he was closed 30 mins prior to the time stated in the daily and refused to give out beer till we made a fuss. You can keep the staircase.

    Big N. E. snow storm

    Last April we had a big winter storm coming at us here in Denver. We were to fly out Friday night at 11:30 pm right about the time the storm was supposed to start moving in. Several airlines offered to those that were flying out of Denver Friday, Saturday or Sunday that they could change their flight and fly out earlier or later in anticipation that flights could be canceled. I called to see if I could change our flight to Thursday or earlier Friday and nothing was available. We just had to chance it that the storm wasnt going to be bad enough by the time our flight was to take off that we could get off the ground. We navigated how many hours of driving it would be from Denver to Miami and whether we could make it by Sunday afternoon to make our ship. it was a long shot but also dealing with weather along the way could have slowed us from making it on time. All we had was that the weather forecasters said this storm would start out as rain first then gradually change to snow over night Friday into Saturday. Friday morning came and skies were mostly clear but as the day went on it clouded up more and by afternoon it was starting to sprinkle. By 9 pm when we left for the airport it was a steady rain and getting colder. flight still said on-time. 11 pm came and we were on the plane and temps were 32 degrees and rain was changing to snow quickly. By now wife and I are getting nervous as we wanted to get off the ground and on our way before the airport or our airline decided to cancel. We pushed back from the jetway and the pilot came on and said we would need to de-ice the plane, a 30 minute process. During de-icing it really started snowing hard. finally we started taxiing out to the runway, ground was still just wet, snow was not sticking to pavement yet. I was get eager to get off the ground. (BTW this was our first ever cruise so we were very anxious to get there and start our much deserved vacation) after waiting for 3 planes ahead of us we finally made our way down the runway and off the ground. Everyone in the plane started clapping. 3-1/2 hours later we landed in Miami at 6am Miami time and saw on the news on TV's in the concourses that DIA airport in Denver was CLOSED. OMG we just got out by the skin of our teeth. Got to our hotel, checked in, check our luggage with hotel as our room wasnt ready yet. (8:30 am in the morning) went across the street to Bayside shopping center and had the best day wondering around the mall, Took the Thriller speed boat tour. rooms was ready by noon, took a nap, went to dinner then back to our room for the night. Next morning got up and took the shuttle to the cruise terminal and had THE BEST TIMES OF OUR LIVES ON SPLENDOR IN THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN. got back and spent an extra night at a hotel right on Miami beach before reluctantly going home. LOL.

     

    If that plane didnt get off the ground, we might have lost everything we spent on that cruise. That ship is leaving on time whether your on it or not. Yes, have a plan B. unless you live by the cruise port then your just lucky to be close to it. LOL.

    Does MSC recognise other loyalty schemes

    MSC have declined to give me the 5% credit saying I can only get it within 24 hrs of booking! My TA is taking this up. This isnt fair really when I have read on this and other forums about people getting the 5% credit after booking abd even after final payment!

    We received the status match and discount about 2 months after booking. I also think they added some promos that we not known to us for months. I don't recall seeing a time frame for the status match so keep trying!

    Behind the Scenes Tours on Divina

    There is a Behind the Scenes offered on Divina. We missed it b/c it was offered @ 8:45 AM and we weren't aware it was being offered. We've done them before on other cruise lines so no big deal, we'll do it next time.

    It was on our last sea day. I'd recommend that you go to guest services in the 1st few days of the cruise and book it through them.

    Behind the Scenes Tours on Divina

    Hello Friends!

    We are cruising on Divina next month and was wondering how to book a "Behind the Scenes" type tour of the workings of the ship? I called MSC and they said there was no such excursion so perhaps they don't offer it or it might be only something you can book once on the ship. Anyone?......

    We also had been matched by the Voyager Club and received 5 percent off our upcoming cruise. However, later I called to check on something and they discovered that the 5 percent wasn't taken off the port charges so then they deducted that! Score!
