  1. Has anyone had any experience with MEDOC travel insurance?  As a retired federal employee, the annual plan seems extremely reasonable. It piggybacks on our PSHCP coverage so I guess that keeps the premiums lower.

I would appreciate any feedback on it before we purchase.

    Thanks!

I just booked an annual plan with TuGo, with a rider that reduces the stability period to 7 days. I had originally asked about a single trip, but the initial questionnaire I had to fill in mentioned annual plans, so I asked for quotes for both. It was about 25% more expensive to get a 20 day annual plan (with a 2 day extension for the current trip) than just the current trip. By the way, I am 66.

We have also purchased the annual plan with TUGO. We have bought single trip plans with them in the past, including when I had an unstable medical condition (paid extra for that one!). Luckily, we have never had to make a claim, so can’t comment on how that would go.

Will you lose your full payment?

We booked through a travel, agent, so just contacted him today to start the cancellation. Princess, on their website,  does say we are entitled to a FCC if government travel advisory comes into effect within 30 days of departure. So, we're hopeful!  Might lose our flight money though. We never seem to be able to use those airline credits!

So those of us with Cruises in the next 4 weeks.  Are you going?    As of this moment we still plan to go.  More stress... ugh  😩🤷‍♀️

We just made the very difficult decision to cancel our cruise for December 29th. It is so disappointing but personally, I just feel I need to adhere to the travel advisory. I am in no way criticizing those that still go ahead, is very much a personal decision.

We did manage to sneak one in during November though. It was wonderful!  Our next cruise booked for February, fingers crossed!

  5. Our travel agent called Princess yesterday as we were concerned we might miss our flight home (booked through Princess EZ Air) because of the problems I have been reading about on this forum.

The representative told him they were aware of the problems snd had “revamped” the testing process to address them. She assured him we should have plenty of time to make our flight and that if we missed it, Princess would take care of everything involved in getting us home.

Now…….. we hope for the best………and assume we are covered for the worst!  Flying back January 6th.

  6. We are cruising December 29th and Princess booked our flight to return to Canada from Fort Lauderdale at 11:55. Our travel agent called Princess because of the tight timing to get tested etc and they assured him it was fine. I’m not so sure about that!  However, Princess rep said we were covered if we missed our flight due to a delay on their part.

But to change flights would have been costly so based on Princess having booked it, we are going to try not to worry about it. We aren’t in a rush to get back home so if we miss our flight it’s not a big deal, as long as Princess stays true to their promise and covers any expenses.

Plan looks fine, but keep checking appropriate web sites. Changes seem to happen rather randomly, sometimes with little or no notice.

We just got off a Royal Caribbean cruise last week. We didn’t have a choice as to what day our PCR test would be on, they did them all on the last full day. Very efficient process.

Results back in a few hours. No problem crossing the border.

We cruise again Dec 29th and our departure testing plan is exactly the same as yours.

Well if someone had told me two years ago that my night out of the house would involve visting a bunch of Costco's, Walmarts, and Shoppers Drug Marts - I would have laughed.

    This is what I found

1 - Walmart - I went to 2 stores and both of them had no idea what I was talking about. I even showed the website with the info to the 2nd store and nothing. No info about testing. No info about booking.

2 - Shoppers Drug Mart - they book 6 days in advance and can do as many appointments as there are tests. She couldn't tell me how many tests they get nor how fast they fill up. I was told I had to call the store as there is no online booking system.

3 - Costco (FOR THE WIN) - I went to the Merivale store as the one in Kanata didn't do testing. The pharmacist said you book online. This is the website:

    https://costcopharmacy.ca/appointment

You pick your store then pick "vaccination". I found it confusing as I was looking for an option for "testing."

Some stores are listed as giving vaccination but when you scroll down and it says "covid 19 asymptomatic antigen testing" it brings you back to the main site and says "this store does not offer testing." That is the case with the Gloucester location.

When you get to the booking section it looks like it only goes out 9 days or to the end of the next week. They only give out testing Monday to Friday 9:00 - 7:30pm, which sounds like when the store is open. I played around with a few random stores and it seems they are all doing that.

    CONCLUSION

I will be logging into the above website a few weeks before my cruise to see if the avaiblility changes from the 9 days/1 1/2 weeks. I will then book online the moment Dec 24th becomes ready to book.

Oh and with Costco it was confirmed, again, that you do not need a membership.

Thanks so much!  This is really helpful info. We are in Ottawa and are driving to New Jersey on November 13th for a cruise on the 14th.
