We put in a healthy offer (in December) to move up for the 9th jan cruise and although we can’t amend anything now we sail in 2 days and haven’t heard anything. I’m totally confused with how this actually works!

As an update, we had our offer refused. There are 39 cabins left in AQ where we had put in a bid. I will try and get an upgrade on the day. I haven’t cruised with celebrity for 5 years so this upgrade thing was new, I wonder now just what a fair offer to upgrade is?

I am currently on the Equinox- the captain said there are 697 passengers. He announced last night there was one case of covid and that contact tracing did not uncover any other cases. Most people are good about wearing masks. Surprisingly the cruise director Shawna and Activities Manager (can’t remember his name) were dancing last night with passengers and did NOT wear masks.

Thank you for putting our minds at ease. We are flying from U.K. and are fully vaccinated. Really looking forward to whatever happens. Not too fussed about getting off at many of the islands.

  3. We board as you depart,

Last year on Equinox, we were only asked to upgrade drinks, the first evening.

I'm also from UK and wait my turn as well. I get grumpy when other nationalities consider it their duty to push in.

If you read other threads about tipping , you will find that their are many passengers, who bung the bar staff a bribe, oops a tip to make sure they get great service

I'm off the Reflection today and having a look at what people think about the cruise. Regarding tips........A bribe?? I hope that was tongue in cheek as I tipped the bar staff when I thought they deserved it. In the Martini bar they ring the bell when they get a tip. On Caribbean cruises the bell rings a lot. Sadly it doesn't ring much on European cruises. Says a lot more about the 'customers' than the staff?

My 4th cruise with X (was on Reflection in February) and staff numbers are declining rapidly as is the service, in places. I was interested to see that as I had pre paid gratuities my state room attendant made zero effort but my friends who didn't pre pay were given a great service! IF I sail with X again I won't pre pay.

Blu was superb, although the Maitre De didn't recognise us even though we had done 21 nights in blu with him in the last year! Yes I know he sees a lot of people but so do the bar staff but some of them recognised me (says more about me) and Maranos a huge disappointment. Entertainment very hit and miss and I'm still confused what the show Eylisium was about?!!

All in all it was a nice cruise with gorgeous ship and weather. I'm not sure if we'll go with X again for a number of reasons but may go back in a couple of years, never say never!
