  1. Hello! Just wondering if anyone might have an idea why there are no sailings listed for Vista for January of 2024? They have sailings available for all months leading up to and after January 2024. I haven't seen any notices of it being chartered or slated for dry dock at that time unless I missed something. A couple of other travel sites had an 8 day Eastern Caribbean itinerary listed for MLK week. We were interested in that option, but nothing comes up when searching for it on the Carnival booking site. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

  2. You will be docked on the Old San Juan side. Carnival's port info here: https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2725/~/san-juan-cruise-ship-terminal-directions-and-parking

I'll be going out of the Pan American port on my Royal Caribbean cruise next May and doing a precruise stay at the Sheraton in Old San Juan. It seems to be the only chain/non-boutique hotel in OSJ. I would definitely go with that one for your cruise since you'll be able to walk right to the port from the hotel. It's pretty nice looking hotel, not too expensive and walking distance to lots of great places to eat/drink. I'll be skipping the hotel breakfast and going to Cafe Manolin or the Casa Cortes ChocoBar.

  3. Thanks for the review! I'll be boarding the Dream in just under 3 weeks! Quick question, did they have a sail away party on deck for your cruise or was it in the lobby? It looks like if the Saints are playing, they put the game on the big screen and move sail away inside. Kind of hoping it's outside if the weather is decent. Thanks again for your great review!

  4. Hey fellow Mike from NJ, Eatontown here! Any recommendations on what to do in St. Thomas? We will be on the Freedom OTS out of San Juan next May and St. Thomas is the only port that we are not sure of what to do. The port area looked pretty rough from the recent pics I've seen so I think we definitely want to book some sort of excursion for our first time there. We're pretty much beach/water people, we usually go for beach/boat/snorkeling/aquatrek style stuff. Thanks for any recommendations!

  5. Loving your review! Just curious where the shop is for the BBD rum. Was it right in or outside the port area? Going on the Dream in January and will be my 3rd time in GC. We'll be going to 7 Mile Beach (Public area by Calico Jacks) for Seymour's Jerk (best chicken stand ever!) and then hopefully trying to get/try a few BBD rums and and BBD rum cakes. Also, did they do any tastings where you went? Would like to sample a few before we buy. Thanks for your help and looking forward to the rest of the review!

  6. Friend of mine has Verizon Fios and gets this channel

Last night we watched an hour long episode featuring Carnival Vista. Very well done show. Enjoyed it much more than Mighty Ships. I wish my cable provider carried AWEEV

Just curious, which show was this on AWE? Dream Cruises? I just realized that I now have AWE on DirecTV! I used to have FIOS and enjoyed AWE for their island coverage. Glad to have it back!

  7. I had this same dilemma yesterday. We just booked 9706 for the 5/19/2018 sailing. We initially booked 9704 and ended up switching shortly after to 9706. The balcony seems to be a bit bigger and less awkward than 9704. A couple of posts here confirmed that. I'm not an authority on this as this is the first time I've booked an aft balcony as well. Here's a thread with some shots of 9406, which is the same basic room/balcony, just on the starboard side of the ship: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=17441921&postcount=2

  8. We used MJS for FLL to POM this past December for our Glory western caribbean cruise. They were good overall, had about a 40min wait at the airport though before they came around. After we were picked up, we still rode around to a few FLL area hotels to pick up other passengers before actually heading down to POM. We had FTTF and were super anxious to just get there. If we didn't have 3 pieces of luggage, we would have definitely done Uber. Price would have been about the same, if not a little cheaper. FLL also has a designated Uber pickup spot right next to where we had to wait for the shuttle. It was tempting to cancel seeing all the other people getting into cars for 40 minutes or so.

MJS was still very professional and nice driver. You pay them after each leg of the trip, and they do accept credit cards. Though one guy who was on the shuttle with us tried to pay with a card, and the driver was having issues with the mobile payment system they had and was getting frustrated (understandable when you have more pick ups to do). Eventually he got it to work, but it did hold up everyone else getting off at different ships. Overall, MJS is solid. If you are in a rush to get on the ship, or cutting it close to boarding time from the airport, I would look into Uber/Lyft/private cab/limo. Hope this helps!

  9. Amex Blue. Try looking under the travel tab to narrow search and it's under the title "World's leading cruise lines"

Carnival Glory - Eastern Caribbean June 2016

I did this a week or so ago with my Amex Blue Everyday to put my $500 deposit down for my May cruise. As soon as the transaction posted, the $100 credit went on to my Amex. No waiting 90 days+ like the fine print says. Awesome 20% discount on a nice chunk of the cruise! :)
