  1. We did the British Isles cruise on Caribbean Princess in May this year. Got a very good price, if I remember rightly we booked in February. We really enjoyed the cruise and would love to do it again but I would go P & O given a choice.

Incidentally we went straight to Platinum level on Princess as our P&O points transferred over. This gave us certain perks, such as Priority boarding and 250 minutes free internet each. Shame they don't transfer the other way.

  2. Have just come back from a cruise which called at Invergordon. There were taxis on the dock but we didn't use them. We took the bus number 25 to Inverness which was waiting on the high street. The cost for a day ticket was £11. You could use this within a certain area and I overheard someone saying they had gone to Loch Ness from Inverness on this ticket.

This info may not help the OP but others may be interested.

  3. Starting to get things together for our forthcoming cruise on Caribbean Princess.

Am wondering what toiletries are provided in the bathroom. Will be taking own shampoo but wondered if I need to pack shower gel.

  4. We recently returned from Oriana and our cabin C321 was almost opposite a laundrette. I used it several times. You can use your own wasking powder, tablets etc or you can buy a pack of two tablets in the onboard shop for 60p. You need one tablet for a wash load. There are laundrettes elsewhere but I think this was the biggest one with, if i remember rightly, four washers and dryers and four ironing boards. There is also a sink for hand washing. There is no charge for using the machines and the laundrette is open from 8.00 am till 10.00pm. A wash usually takes about 40 mins. Hope this helps.

  5. When we were in Lisbon recently after a walk around the shops we took a walk up to St George's Castle. This was not too strenuous and we took it steady. You can also go up there by tram, the number 28 goes there. There are also tuktuks there touting for business. On previous visits we gave done the hop on hop off bus and on one occasion we went to the Oceanarium. We caught a bus right outside the dock to do this. We have only done one ship's tour and that was to Sintra and Cascais. I believe it's possible to do this on your own by train, maybe someone who has done this may be able to help.

  6. We have just returned from a lovely cruise on Braemar where the passengers raised over £8,000 from donations via their on board accounts and a raffle of a hamper by the on board shop. It's a pity that the ship was not sailing full as much more could have been raised. However, I'm sure that the lovely Filipino staff will very grateful for all donations from all four ships. Our thoughts are with them and their families.
