Is this the only trip you are planning to ever take with your children? if yes then do not buy them passports. If no then buy them. Or buy one. I would not renew yours until after you return.

This is the Only Trip I see in the near future to take the children on that will be leaving the Country. With Sports and School, money and time are pretty tight now. I saw a good deal on this cruise, and since the Mrs and I fell in love with cruising we wanted to share this experience with the boys.

But for the Wife and I (hopefully) more trips will be in the cards.

So that is the reason why I want to keep a current passport for me.

  2. Thankyou for the quick and concise answers. Even though we will cruising a closed loop and not going to Cuba. I will renew since we have 3 months lead time.

Since I am on the passport topic. We have decided not to get passports for our 2 ds 10and 8 years old. I know if there is an emergency this could cause a problem. We will be sure to bring certified birth certificates for them.

It just seems an extra 300 bucks is a little steep to pay for something that’s not absolutely needed. Does any one think I am crazy with this choice?

  3. My passport expires in August but have a cruise planned for April. Is it required to have a passport not within 6 months of expiration. Or is it recommended to not use a passport with in 6 months of it expiring.

With the shutdown are passports not being processed, or is there a delay?

I am not sure if I should send in my current passport in order to renew it, if it is still somewhat valid.

    Thanks

  4. Checked on a computer and I got the same message as an iPhone.

I called Royal, talked with a wonder gentleman who said everyone does NOT need to purchase. He refunded the previous charge and charge me for two new ones. So the call was simpler than doing it myself online.

The screen capture showing the above 6 year old makes me think that will be changed in the future, but as for now it is all good.

    Thanks everyone

  5. I checked today and the refreshment package is down to 17 dollars for our cruise in April. I purchased for 20/dayfor the wife and me. I was going to cancel and repurchase.  But now I see everyone in the cabin over 6 must purchase it. Our 2 DS are 8 and 10. There is no way I would allow them to drink that much for it to be worth it to purchase for them.

Is this a change that just happens in the last month?

Since I already reserved and paid for the two adults there is no they can take it away from us? Is there?

Is there anyway I could get the new price but still only have the 2 adults get the package? It would save 50 bucks for the trip. But I was happy with the 20/day that I previously paid.

  6. We booked for the second week of April 2019, back in August. We saved about 35% with the kids sail free. We were about to book with MSC, but then luckily the kids sail free promo came up. So excited to surprise our 8 and 10 year old. I know RCI has lots of “fake” sales, but the kids sail free is for real a sale. Good luck with your prices!

  7. I agree with the above poster make sure you go almost all the way through the booking to get the final price.

If you read the fine print on the SALE it will show you the blackout dates. Example: In 2019 it blacks out the first week of April.

We just booked a few weeks ago and saved about 1200$. I am SO excited to bring my boys on a cruise.

Also the way the price fluctuate is so odd. I did a mock booking for just 2 people today on our cruise and it was 200 dollars more than what we paid for our family of four.

  8. Just off the navigator Friday. Had the single unit surf and stream package, to share with me and the wife. I felt for the speed we received it was not worth the price. But it was the only option. I tried you tube a couple times and it would not load. Face timing home worked ok. Very choppy and poor connection would pop up occasionally (I have 40 meg speed at home so the problem was on the ship). There were 1050 children on the ship, that may have contributed to the slowness?

It worked well to find friends on the ship who also had iPhones and the wifi package. You had to check that you were still connected as occasionally it would kick you off.

One thing to note. If I wanted on I would just log on and it would kick my wife's phone off. Neither of us needed to log out.

Here is a hint. Copy your code so all you have to do is hit PASTE to log back in;)
