  1. Was it specific to the ship or to RCL in general? Searching...

I think the documentary was in two parts, with the first part being about the history of RCL in general and about their first ships. The second part focused on their newer ships (at the time being Oasis and Quantum Class).

Thanks to everyone who has posted this far! I’ll try reaching out to RCL home office and will also search the TV on our cruise next month to see if they’re playing it on board. :D

  2. I’m hoping someone else might have some idea of where to find this documentary. Last February my husband and I were on the Allure of the Seas and happened to see on our stateroom TV this 2 part documentary produced by Royal Caribbean about the “Royal Caribbean Story.” They talked about the history of their first ships and other topics (I specifically remember the Sun Viking being mentioned and how the Empress of the Seas was the largest ship when it was built.)

Since returning to land I’ve been trying to find that documentary again. Does anyone know what this documentary is called and/or where I can find a copy of it? I’m happy to buy a DVD on ship if needed—we haven’t been on a cruise since that cruise when I watched it on our stateroom TV, but we’ll be going on Anthem of the Seas next month. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

  3. When we sailed on Majesty of the Seas in October out of Port Canaveral, it was one set of doors that everyone went through, but they separated the lines into C&A and non-C&A security lines. If you were at least Gold status you were able to get in the faster line. After security when you head upstairs to check in, they separated people further by their specific status, so everyone had their own lines to check in at depending on your status.

  4. OP, your party mix sounds similar to the trip we took in October with friends (all of us in our late 20s / early 30s). As others have mentioned here, the ship does have a good amount to offer in terms of activities--I recommend reading through the daily cruise compass and trying things you might not normally try on land. (For example: my partner and I did trivia and the love and marriage game show--two things we had yet to do on an RCCL ship before, and had a great time!)

If you're looking for the latest and greatest in cruise ship rooms and technology, unfortunately the Majesty is not it. However, that isn't a bad thing, either! We actually go cruising now because we want to disconnect from everything on land. (Even this "obnoxious millenial" loves getting away from cell phones and internet when he gets a chance!) As mentioned previously, the rooms are smaller than they are on some of the newer ships, but remember that the Majesty is now one of the oldest ships in the fleet. What I found truly memorable about the ship was the service--the crew really went above and beyond for us to make sure we had a great time.

You all are going to have a great time! If you're curious to see more about the ship, you might want to check out YouTube to find room tours from previous guests. That may help you decide what to pack/bring, and if you want to upgrade to a larger ocean view room on deck 9.

  5. I would be equally frustrated! You've been looking forward to this vacation for years and booked it with the information that RCI provided themselves. I hope you're able to bring this to their attention for future cruisers, and I hope they compensate you somehow for the misinformation. While not the end of the world, it's certainly not something that RCI should ignore, particularly if it's an issue with information they're providing to guests.
