  1. Hi, I just popped on here to read about the virus. I did the Chef's Table on our Alaska Cruise on the Coral Princess in 2017. I was told to call dining the minute I got on the ship to make the reservation. They were supposed to have 2 nights but did not have enough interest for the first night, then they had to turn people away for the 2nd night. It was an awesome experience. Well worth it! I think have a review somewhere on here.

  2. I normally only drink coffee in the mornings. We were in a full suite so we had breakfast at Sabatini's every morning except on the disembark day & it was not open. I had read about the "syrup" coffee! The coffee at Sabatini's was good. I never asked if it was fresh brewed but it sure taste like it. They had fresh squeezed orange juice also. So the last morning we went to the MDR, and I will say the coffee was pretty bad! I noticed a few folks had brought in go cups from the IC. I did have decaf Irish coffee a couple of nights after dinner in the MDR. Not bad but maybe the whisky masked the bad coffee taste!

  3. We were on Coral SB 6/3-10. Our travelling partners (parents and two teens) got sick on land portion (productive coughs) and the Dad was positive for the flu 2nd day on board ship. He was quarantined to room for 4 days, family started on Tamiflu and never got sicker than the annoying cough. I did hear LOTS of coughing during the rest of the cruise, all around us. DH and I were VERY diligent about using Purell and never touching our faces. Fortunately we never got sick. And imagine this -- we're both over 60. Can't believe someone thinks those over 60 shouldn't cruise.

I commented early on this post & my symptoms were pretty typical for a mild case of the flu. I did run fever about 101 for 2 days & that usually doesn't happen with just a cold. I had a flu shot but it was in early October & I'm some of it's effectiveness had worn off. We were on the Coral SB 20-27. There was lots of coughing. I'm glad it happened towards the end of our trip. I'm 60 and it wont keep me from cruising again. [emoji16]I used that Purell and washed hands too but I think I got more lenient on the hand washing later in the week.

  4. I have a similar question, except that I independently booked my flight and a hotel near the airport with the intent to take the hotel shuttle back to the airport to catch the Princess transfer to Whittier. I assume on that morning I should find the Princess office at the airport.

Also, is it possible on flight arrival at the airport to deposit the checked baggage with Princess for transfer to the ship, and then proceed to my hotel with only hand luggage?

The information on my pre-departure transfer is a bit vague for those not arriving by air the day of the cruise departure.

We did this trip in May. We took our rental car back to the airport and caught the bus there. Princess will not let you leave your luggage at their check in until 8am. The first bus loaded around 11:45. Buses are on a first come basis, so if there are a lot of early flights on embark day, the buses fill up fast. You can catch the bus at the Egan Center downtown & I'm sure it is a similar process. Our bus transfer came with our cruise booking. I heard the train will get you to Whittier earlier. We were on the first airport bus & we got to Whittier around 1:15. I do remember by the time we boarded we were too late for lunch in the MDR.

  5. You will connect through the Princess at Sea app. As soon as you finish be sure to disconnect through the app. We were in the aft on deck 10 and our connection was very spotty. So lots of minutes were used with the device spinning. Service was better mid-ship the closer you got to the Internet Cafe. Your cell service data works well in the ports, Whittier, & Vancouver so you really only have 3 days without cellular data. I have Verizon & actually picked up data near Gustavus (Glacier Bay) & the Inside Passage.

  6. Sure seems to be how it appears.

I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a waiter on Princess pull out a 'crumber' to sweep the table-cloth.

They sure pulled them out in May when we were on the Coral! I was really surprised! I just cannot say anything negative about our CC experience. We met lots of new folks in CC and really enjoyed just sitting in the dining room after dinner with drinks or an Irish coffee and chatting.

  7. We were in a full suite on the Coral 5-20-17 and we only got 2 bottles of water. We did order a case of water because we do drink more than 1 bottle each per day. Plus I always took water with me when we left the ship. Maybe they thought we had enough so they didn't need to bring more. IDK? If we had run out of bottled water, I guess I would have found out!

  8. I would too in a heartbeat - so much else to see and do! Were you the cruise with a lot of rain?

We were in the storm that hit the Gulf of Alaska. Sail away from Whittier was beautiful but we ran into it during the early morning hours of the 21st. Heavy rain, high seas, & gale force wind! It was an experience for sure. We had beautiful weather from Skagway down to Vancouver.

Thanks! Most of what you said went right over my head regarding the videos ;p I was hoping there was an easy way to post a video going directly from the I-pad. I like how easy it is to access the photos and post and was hoping for an equally easy access for videos.

Glad to hear that you liked my pictures!

Thanks for posting! We were on the Coral the 20-27! We are ready to do it again. I would love to see the Chihuly Gass in Seattle! BTW...love your user name! I get it!

  10. We will be on the Star NB Glacier Bay out of Vancouver July 15, can we sign up as soon as we board? Is it the same Chefs Table ? We are in a full suite does that make a difference?

I don't know if different ships have different menus. I'm sure it would be similar. We were in a full suite but I don't think you are given priority for the CT. I was just told to call ASAP upon boarding.

  11. Short rant... why oh why do picky eaters choose to do this! You are not a foodie if you won't even try it. (Serious allergies excepts of course... no one wants their meal interrupted by a medivac call.)

The one lady was with her husband and parents-in-law. She was the one that did not eat seafood. I don't think she was allergic either. I think they may have asked about food allergies. Can't see spending $95 dollars for someone that is picky!

Yes, call the DINE line, I think it is on the phone. Just tell them to put your name on the list. I guess if they have 12 sign up right away they will do a second night.
