  1. They did send out a generic email in August advising people in the center GS that they were not all a 2/2. I booked in the US so I'm not sure all passengers received the email, but they're not just leaving it out there for people to find out on their own. They may not have fixed everyone's situation, but they did alert passengers to their mistake.

We live in the US and we're never sent any email or other communication regarding GS changes. We found on our own through generic sites months ago. Multiple calls, emails etc and powers in charge denied the changes for a long period then promised they would get us another cabin or a YC cabin even stating we were on a waiting list. Never happened! We stalked the MSC site and luckily procured our own YC. As I said previously never an apology or "we will make this right"! So yes we were on our own.

  2. We were in 14002 thinking it was a 2 bed. Then read everything on here to find out not only is it not a 2 bed, but is the smallest of the GS's, with what looks like a large steel structure right above our balcony. We escalated our dissatisfaction to a senier CS rep back in July and was promised it would be looked into. By the end of August still no word so I gave her a poke, to be told that she still didn't know what specs the rooms were.

I got tired of waiting so proactively changed our room to 11003 last month when it became available because if they decided that I was staying put I wanted to be best placed.. I then contacted again about the layout to be told that as I had changed to a room that was acceptable to me that would be the end of it.

Glad it worked out for you. Certainly must be the one taking the reins!

  3. I am a travel agent who booked 11003 almost a year ago when it was supposed to be a 2bdr. I even called 3 months ago and after being on hold for almost an hour was confirmed again that it would indeed be a 2bdr. I called yesterday, and I obviously know that it is indeed a 1bdr. They offered my money back or to be in two cabins joined. Obviously that has been offered to other pax. I communicated to them that they should communicate this to the people who have booked and was met with crickets. It really is a shame! I would have really preferred to have booked YC as the price was similar when I booked and obviously tht is not avaible anymore. I won’t cancel because I am really looking forward to the ship. I guess if everything is full I can’t expect an upgrade so what would make the situation right? Any ideas?

Best of luck! We were originally in 14002 and realized early on it was a 1/1 with what now appears to be a small balcony and maybe metal partition rail? One night months ago at 1AM a YC became available and we switched. We had MANY days of "crickets" and not being honest from MSC. To the point they said "take it or leave it!" We asked them to put us on a waitlist for the YC but realized on CC bookings were happening for YC by others but we were never contacted. Happily, we were able to take things in our own hands. Keep checking.

  4. I don't think you sound negative at all. You have a very legitimate concern for which you are voicing and looking for answers.

Try looking up that cabin using the MSC UK site, you will more than likely get another different answer. What we discovered recently is, that the MSC UK website appears to have a better image representation of what the "corner" GS cabins may look like.

I hope your TA will be able to help and get you something.

Edit - About you question about an open balcony and glass. From the images seen thus far, All the side "corner" GS cabins have a side balcony and it appears to be steel for most of it. Look at any recent photo of MSC Meraviglia and the very forward cabins on either side. They all have steel balconies with what looks like some type of railing along the top part of the balcony.

Thank you for the site and updates. I went on site and see displays of a GS but unable to see specific ones. I also signed on but not permitted. Now the Meraviglis looks different as far as the "corner" GS they are mostly whirlpool GS. Will attempt calling MSC again but usually not helpful.

Also how do we combine the two threads from cruisecritic??? Anyone know? Think it would be all in one place. Lots of nice people. In the beginning the "inaugural" cruisers from Miami were merged with of us taking the TA from Italy. That was confusing.

    Hope someone knows.

    Thanks again for the info.

  5. Sorry to hear about all the trouble you are having including the embarkation port. Did you book your flights through MSC. If so, may be they could offer you something. I am surprised that they did not email you to notify you of the change.

With respect to the GS suite cabins, a lot of us here are looking for some correct and clear updates. There seems to be a lot of contradictory info out there. Where are you getting information that the deck 14 corner GS has 2 bathrooms? The rendering of the middle GS cabins do show 2 Bedrooms and 2 Bathrooms even with the different cabin sizes. That is the one image that has been consistent on every website I have seen.

Just today we were still told the cabin was a 2/2! Then told 1/2 the MSC site states they are the smallest GS now but diagrams show 2/2! Ugh! No one knows! Or telling the truth!! Now the cabins are called corner GS which before were not. And the uncertainty of an open balcony is not addressed. Not sure if all glass??? No we didn't book flights with MSC. We are with a TA but booked on our own. Thankfully, the hotel can be cancelled. So sorry, don't want to sound so negative BUT.... Still hoping for something to change I guess.

    Thanks for the response.

  6. Follow up re GS: we booked deck 14 front corner for 2 people as did our friends since we were told only cabins available on inaugural cruise 12/1 from Venice. This past week we have realized the size is not what was reported in Oct 2016 and only for 2 people since one bedroom only. Still stating there are 2 bathrooms but do not believe since middle GS states only suite with 2 BR. We have not received any clarification from MSC who often continues to state there are 2 bedrooms!! Now uncertain of balcony and cannot get anyone who knows the answers! Today we now have read (not informed) we are embarking from Trieste, Italy NOT Venice!!! This is overwhelming to say the least! Of course we had already booked flight to Venice.

Good luck to all on these grand suites. Any new info I would appreciate!
