  1. We stayed at the Absalon Hotel, which is very close to the central train station and Tivoli.  We were in a triple, and it was very nice (but I think an upgraded room).  There was a queen sized bed, a bathroom, and then a small room with a twin bed and its own door.  Terrific included breakfast as well.  It wasn't cheap, but also was not out of line for Copenhagen.

I am looking at the Absalom hotel for next year on the Mardi Gras do they have air condition,?  we have a walking tour that leaves from City Center, how far is it from hotel also Tivoli gardens, Nyhavn, their website don't give this info.  Thanks for any info.

Not all rooms at the Absalon have air conditioning.  Ours (on the 5th floor) did, but it was an upgrade; we booked one without AC due to cost.  In terms of location, it is about a 5 minute walk from the main train station (Copenhagen central station), and about 5-10 from Tivoli.  I think it would be a hike from Nyhavn.  We did walk one day from Stroget (main shopping/pedestrian street) in about 20 minutes.  We took a boat tour and saw Nyhavn.  Hope this helps!

  3. We are at the Absalom hotel (across the street from the Anderson), and have had a great experience.  The room is lovely; front desk excellent; staff very friendly and helpful.  We too have walked all over the city from here (though it is further to the center of town than some other places).  It gets great reviews on TripAdvisor and it is evident why.  Breakfast is included and is very good; something for everyone, including my very picky vegetarian DD.  And a very short train trip (10-15 minutes) from the airport that is very easy to do on your own.

  4. We are leaving shortly on a Baltic cruise and are doing St Petersburg.  Like you, we have been there before (on a land tour) and have seen the usual highlights.  We have booked a customized private tour for the three of us with TJ Travel.  They have been wonderful to work with in planning our days.  We are seeing the Russian museum (Russian art) and the Museum of Ethnography (about the Russian people), as well as the Faberge museum and the ballet.  We also set aside time for Nevsky and shopping, and I am sure there are some other things I am missing.  We looked at Rick Steves' Northern European cruise ports guide for ideas, and also emailed with TJ about options.  The private tour for the three of us came out to about the same price as the group tours (does not include lunch or the ballet tickets).  So far TJ has been quite impressive.
