Hotel Plaza Del Armas... google map it. 6 blocks from El Morro, 1 block to Barachinas, 5 blocks from the Old San Juan Pier, free trolley stop at the front door, 10 block walk to El Cristobal Fort. Normally very inexpensive, but also an old building with really small rooms (some with no windows) and almost nothing for amenities. Great little hotel to site see from.
We love this hotel for being very inexpensive $100 a night or just under. located in Old San Juan right in the middle of everything. We found it quiet & perfect for our pre cruise needs.

Definitely visit El Moro & the walk around the old city is quite beautiful especially at sunset. The Passeo La Princessa. Check out Hotel El Convento , visit the town square treat yourself to a great coffee & a Majorca at the big green kiosk. Stop in at Barachnas for a piña colada. They claim to have invented the drink...just some of the things we love to do in OSJ

For me it's the baked escargot. Many nights I'm order two!
And of course I'm soaking all that buttery garlicky goodness with a couple fresh rolls :) yum, yum, & yum!

I'm excited to visit the old city on our march Columbia stop.
How would you compare it to the old walled city in old San Juan Puerto Rico?

Dennis do you remember what the cost of the tour with Mystic Man was per person?
-
Spencers boat is a v hull speedboat not a cat. Im looking into Mystic Man tours right now and looks like they operate on catamaran

we have done Cosols tour and Rodneys boat tour. Both were awesome. Cosols tour was on a van & rodneys on a small boat, both ended up at the Pitons and at what used to be Jalouise now called Sugar beach. Both were equally incredible yet somewhat different. I dont think you would go wrong choosing either
-
We have been to this beach a couple times, once with Cosol & once with Rodneys tour. Im curious how much a taxi is so I can decide if doing a tour will be a better deal when factoring in lunch, drinks, and transportation
-
I enjoy Cane Bay snorkeling quite a bit! But here's the catch, if you're coming in on a ship the taxi fare is going to cost you $35+ each way. Then you rent your gear, your chair, get food and drinks (Eat @ Cane Bay is FANTASTIC though) and you're looking at a pretty expensive day. If you want to do it it's definitely a great spot, I just don't think it's that much better than the west end.
Thanks foe the reply. We have our own gear so that's not an issue.
When you say $35+ is that per person? How long of a ride are we talking?
What would be your favourite beach on the West end for good snorkeling, good food, and reasonable drinks?
Thank you in advance Drake!

The food is amazing at Kakao as well as the service! You can rent am nice lounger and umbrellas from a guy on the beach right there $15 for two loungers and umbrella.
Very reasonable prices for the food and drink at Kakao as well

I'm curious about Cane Bay beach. How would you compare it to Rainbow and Sandcastle?
Looking to snorkel, lounge around, maybe get a bite to eat and have a drink

Think I'll get them an extra key to our cabin, and get an extra key to their cabin for us. :)
Snorkeling with turtles
in Barbados

You could just go to Carslisle Beach & snorkel with turtles by swimming right out from the beach. Or you can make a deal with one of the many little boats who will take you right out to the turtles & several ship wrecks right there & usually provide some rum punch or beer
