Completely agree with BarbarianPaul, what misjudgment of the situation. Regent is refusing to accept Hong Kong passengers and refunding their money plus a future cruise credit. First, I disembarked the Westerdam with my mom in Hong Kong on Feb. 1, and did not feel comfortable being made to do so. I can’t believe they didn’t change ports and felt like my health, and my older mother’s, was being put in jeopardy. If you weren’t there, you can’t know how we felt.
Also, someone said that the captain and Jeremy are working very hard, but how exactly? When we were onboard as the virus news started to break, the captain just robotically read various messages from the HA home office for several days, and Jeremy (cruise director) is doing what exactly? I didn’t sense any emotion from the captain at all. He seemed lost and in over his head. Please report this situation correctly and with a cool head.

All good valid opinions! I am glad I am not alone, although in the minority. Thank you everyone for replying!

I am curious if anyone cleans their own cabin. We primarily sail Holland America, and are four star mariners. Of course HA cabin stewards always do a great job, but I still see some streaks and spots left on the doors, night stands, table, etc. For our next cruise, 33 days from Honolulu to Auckland on the Noordam in late October, I’m going to take a small bottle of all surface natural cleaning solution. No big deal, and honestly, I’m not some monstrous clean freak, but I think I’ll feel cozier if I take 15 minutes once a week and quickly go over the surfaces in our cabin. Has anyone else considered this?

In my almost 40 years of cruising, I’ve only had a handful of cruises that could be considered bad. Instances involved getting violently ill (where I couldn’t eat or leave my cabin for days), another instance when fellow passengers were so disruptive that they turned a short weekend cruise into a brawl which included racially motivated fist fights, destroyed property, trash everywhere and even vomit crusted to the carpet for the entire cruise. And another cruise where a cabin steward single handedly terrorized us for days after we reported his very inappropriate behavior. He was removed from his duties and eventually fired after his subsequent behavior towards us. Try to have a good cruise when you have a stalker with access to your cabin for days, even after he was strictly forbidden from coming anywhere near you.
But besides that, I’ve enjoyed every single one of my cruises!

My regret was sailing Regent’s Seven Seas Explore. Too expensive and absolutely not worth the hype. Food great but the vibe was funereal. Love Viking and Celebrity (blu). Ok with Crystal. Did not care much for Star Princess but enjoyed Ruby Princess very much.

Just because you didn't get caught doesn't mean that steamers are allowed....they aren't.
Cruise security never said anything. Cabin steward never said anything as it was left in plain sight during all my cruises. I don’t need to try not to get caught. You sound so very nice!

I always take my mini steamer (cup size). Steam everything (my husband’s clothes as well) once we embark and only retouch later on. Cruised on several lines, never a problem.

Sorry if this was already discussed, I couldn't find it.
As a person who only drinks water, tea and some juice I found the price of a non alcoholic package insanely high. Is it allowed to bring your own water on board of Celebrity?
Thanks

Hello,
We are going on Mexico cruise from LA for 10 days on Star Princess. Did anyone receive OBC from their TA for this cruise? We only recently found out about TA giving OBC as we never received one from ours and we have been on several cruise lines already. Not sure if OBC gets issued every time or it depends..
Thanks

As a big fan of healthy food I often struggle with menu choices on the cruise ships. While some dishes and desserts are truly amazing, at some point your body needs something to detox. For those of you who sailed on Seven Seas Explorer so far, are there some healthy options like protein shake, veggy juice, porridge, etc..?

What is being done about coronavirus.....

Recently I have seen quite few people on YouTube and these boards instigating others to go on a cruise despite the current situation. Something like “I still would go” or even “it is up to you,” or “it’s a personal decision,” the implication being you’re kind of a wimp if you don’t go. Government agencies are far from perfect but they’re not all idiots and their opinion matters. And now I see, that instead of being honest and just saying, indeed, it is too dangerous and I was wrong, some persons are saying “oh, let’s see what my doctor says”. It is obvious that you are not going on that cruise so why not just say it?
