  1. Hope your DIL is ok.....we did a Mediterranean cruise on Carnival Freedom in 8/2011 & I was bit by some kind of bug in Venice & ended up w/ West Nile. I had this rash all over my hands & arms that 2 doctors couldn't get rid of. After 3 months I tested positive for Lupus. My rheumatologist finally figured out that the West Nile triggered a dormant Lupus gene. 3 years later I'm still being treated for lupus that effects the skin. It was a crazy 6 months of trying to figure out what I had. Hope she is better.

  3. I thought only the adjoining rooms had the closet by the bed & the non adjoining rooms had the closet on the same wall as the desk. Couldn't have the closet on that wall....that's where the adjoining door is. That may not be true...? I didn't like closet by the bed. Hard to get in the closet.

  4. We are booked on Allure for 2/9 sailing and can't believe the price of hotel rooms for Saturday, 2/8.

I get that February is a great time to go.....we are from Chicago and we want to get out of the crappy weather too, but $300 for a hotel room for 1 night is killing me.

    Any suggestions.....and I'll keep looking.

    Thanks -

  5. Song of Norway was my sister and my first cruise with our husbands in 1/88, and we haven't looked back since. We are life long cruisers! I will have to pull out my scrap book and see if I have pictures of the ship. I'm sure I do.

What a great cruise and ship. We were on the first sailing from San Juan and Sovereign made her maiden voyage the day before (Saturday) we left on our first cruise, (Sunday). We had more fun that week. I do remember that I needed a vacation to recover from the cruise vacation when I came home! I have since learned to pace myself.

The really crazy part is........ we thought that ship was so big until we went on Song of America and then Sovereign of the Seas. It looks like a life boat compared to the ships now.

I still have fond memories of that cruise............

  6. My first cruise was on SON in January 1988. To think that we thought that ship was huge. I remember it held 1088 people. The 2nd cruise we went on was on Song of America and then Sovergne of the Seas. We just got off Mariner of the Seas that hold 3300+. We've come a long way!! what a great little ship the SON was.
