We bring two empty water bottles and a funnel. Every time we are returning to our cabin we each get two drinks from a bar on the way - wine (we like to drink it in the evenings) or Bailey's straight up (we like it in our coffee in the morning). Hoard in the mini fridge.

We didn't notify anyone - my husband just signed in.

When there is one on my bar stool LOL

I like the idea of this but wish the paintings were more associated with the cruise - palm tree, margarita, sandy beach, etc. That way it would be a unique souvenir.

We were on the Escape in October with the UDP and twice we were charged for our wine at dinner. It is frustrating to have to visit Guest Services to fix their error.

yes. We asked about upgrading to a balcony but the price quoted was $400 more per person

Hi! I got the NY one on Friday and got the email to book today. I don't know how many they offer, but they did refresh today so more were available. Beware though that they are not free - I still had to pay taxes, port fees and an "admin" fee. We did choose the unlimited beverage perk so also had to pay gratuities on that. We also added trip insurance. Total we paid was $760 (we had a cruise next certificate that we used as well). All in all, a great deal for two people for a week's cruise with free drinks, but not free 😄

We went to Ardastra Zoo. You get on a bus at the pier, they drive through the city pointing out the sites. The zoo itself is small but easily walkable. They have flamingoes that march. The bus takes you back to the ship.

I was also on the Breakaway 9/15 to 9/24 - well actually only until the 23rd since they made us get off the ship in Copenhagen. I was astounded at the lack of customer service provided by NCL. They informed us around 11am on the 22nd (while we were at sea) that we would be responsible for arranging our own transportation and lodging to get back to Berlin. Their "help" consisted of providing access to 6 laptops to try and arrange this. It honestly never occurred to me that I could be stranded in a port that was not where I was supposed to disembark in a totally different country. Outrageous!

We were on breakaway in March and they had them on sea days. Delish!

All of what you call "cons" are obvious if you did any research before your cruise. NCL is not for everyone & if those things are important to you then you are right, NCL is not for you. We have sailed Breakaway twice & will be going on this cruise in Sept. We got a large balcony for all three cruises and really loved it. You can't blame NCL for pushy passengers. Our last cruise we never even ate in the buffet (and we did not have the specialty dining package). We can't wait for this itinerary and to sail on this ship again.

Last March we were on the Breakaway and a person below us was smoking non-stop. I went to guest services and reported them (as well as taking pictures). They said to call next time I saw it and I did. A representative came to our room & I showed them the ashtray on the balcony. I don't know what happened to the smokers (fine or warning) but the smoking stopped. In my opinion, I have a right to enjoy my balcony smoke free.

We plan on getting some "local" currency for our trip in Sept. but plan to pay for most things with credit card. We also plan to leave any leftover at a church when we leave the country,

I still like them & always make sure to thank the steward for them. On our last morning I left him my attempt - a snowman. (We were in NY)

I'm sorry (and maybe it's just me) but I really don't understand what you are asking. Can you clarify?

I haven't done it, but I've heard good things about food tours there. It's a walking tour so you get a history commentary and you stop at different food places. The one I was looking at was $70.
-
You pay the gratuity (I believe it's 20%) when you book. All drinks up to $15 are included. You may have to pay tax in port (like in NY before sailaway).
-
Sounds great - do you have to book through a TA or can you book directly through NCL?

Hi! We will be sailing in the fall and joining the cruise at Warnemunde. Most passengers embark in Copenhagen. The ship leaves at 10pm. My question is about Muster drill. Does everyone already on board have to do it again? Is there a specific time for embarkation? We are soooo excited - this is only our second cruise.

It's not allowed but people sure smoked on the balconies on our cruise in April. It wasn't overwhelming, but we could smell it.

We booked the Breakaway next year for a European cruise and I was wondering - do the drink specials change? When we sailed to Bahamas there were Mai Tais, Bahama Mamas, Rebellious Fish etc. Do they change the drinks on the European cruises?

Yes this helps greatly! We are not interested in going to the beach mainly shopping and strolling around the area for a bit. Does anyone know what the cost of the buses that are waiting are in comparison to what NCL charges? thanks!
I don't know the difference in cost because we also used the shuttle from NCL. Just wanted to add that the shuttles run back to the ship every 30 min.

I guess that just like "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", vacation experiences vary. We were on this cruise and enjoyed it very much. We were aware before sailing that it was spring break & would be crowded with many families and teachers. We had fabulous meals (all in the complimentary venues) and avoided children by spending time at Spice2O. The crew was friendly and helpful. The bartenders in the two bars we frequented knew our names and our drinks in the first 24 hours. And guess what - the only "extra" charges we incurred were from choices we made - taxes on drinks in port, a lobster roll at Ocean Blue and Nachos at Margaritaville. The weather can not be controlled by NCL and I appreciate "Safety First". I'm glad for those who took advantage of this amazingly awesome opportunity and appreciated it. Was everything perfect? No. But still much better than a week of work, cooking, cleaning & chores. I'd go again in an instant!

We are sailing on the Breakaway in that room (9722) 4/9. It is our first cruise ever (just my husband & I) & we are really excited. Funny thing - I had been looking at that Scandinavia/Russia cruise for 2018! We wanted to complete this cruise first though to make sure we like cruising! If you have any specific questions about this room, I'll be happy to answer when we get back.
Duck hiding on ship???
in Norwegian Cruise Line

Yes, on our last two cruises we saw many ducks hidden around the ship. We didn't play along, but it was fun to see.
