  1. Any day on a cruise ship is better than a day on land, even if the cruise ship is tied up to land for longer than it needs to be. I'm glad Royal Caribbean made things right by offering the compensation, and if people left with refunds the ship may be half empty and thus more room for the existing folks to cut loose and have a great time. I was on Majesty last week for this very same cruise, and loved it, and I bet they all will too.

  2. I understand what you mean and agree with the sentiment, but in this day and age it'll never happen. We're in the connected age, it is what it is.

You're better off just focusing on your own vacation and enjoying it to the best of your ability. Let them do their thing and you do yours.

I did the All Access Tour on Freedom of the Seas - it was very fascinating! Very worth the price. We saw the galley, navigation bridge, engine control room, laundry facilities, etc. It was fun to walk amongst the crew only areas too. Very cool to see how the machine works behind the scenes.

  4. If you have a smart phone and are using the Internet on the ship, you can download either the Cruise Ship Mate app, which is great - packed with a lot of information and a social networking site of its own, or an app called Marine Traffic - this is neat because you can track other ships in the area, even freight ships etc.

I have both on my phone and recommend them both.

  5. I think seeing everyone's posts allows me to live vicariously through them when I'm not on a ship, and makes me want to cruise even more. Nothing replaces the thrill of embarkation, the excitement of a sail away party, or the warm smiles from the crew welcoming you to the exotic ports of call.

Sure, a picture or video seen online is one thing, but living it is what it's all about.

The connected age is here, yes, but I think it's just another way to experience the joys of cruising without being on the ship, for all those times to enjoy it in-between sailings.

  6. I had to look up what "bemused" means... I was puzzled also! That's why I asked :)

Cruise lines are also innovating all the time I thought it was something new.

I know it's silly but hey, don't know unless you ask, right?

Also, I've never sailed on this line so I'm unfamiliar with their ships.

  7. I like watching ships come in and out of Port Canaveral on the webcam, and tuned in this morning to see the Azura docked where the Royal Caribbean ships usually are.

As I was looking at the back of the ship, I saw what looked to me like a second navigational bridge spanning the rear of the ship. It didn't look like a typical lounge or something else overlooking the rear.

I've attached a link to a picture here:

Anyone know, is this actually a second bridge, or is it a bar/lounge that just happens to resemble what the front bridge of a ship usually looks like on the outside?

  8. My cousin met someone who works on CoCoCay and has been sending her pictures of construction going on where they're building a dock and eventually will allow ships to dock directly instead of tendering. I haven't been able to find anything online to confirm this.

It's not that I don't believe my cousin, I just wanted to read more about it. Anyone else heard this or know if this is the case?

  9. First time poster, so I apologize if this violates any of the rules. Apologies in advance.

    On to my post...

Hi all - I've been on a number of cruises as a child, then didn't cruise for a while and getting back into it. I know that some of the ships I've been on (Celebrity Horizon and Zenith) are no longer in service, but the Legend of the Seas still is. This was my first cruise aboard a Royal Caribbean ship.

I just sailed on the Freedom of the Seas and had a blast. I made sure to pick up a magnet, as I collect these magnets from places I visit and ultimately I'd like to have one for each ship I sail on.

I'm just wondering if someone is going to be traveling on the Legend of the Seas, if I could trouble someone to pick up two different Legend of the Seas magnets for me from the gift shop. I can paypal cash to cover the purchases.

    Thanks again!

    John
