  1. I'm going on the explorer of the sea. I haven't cruised since I was a kid. So I planed for 3 cruises on three different liners. Next week I'm going to the Caribbean on carnival. March I have southern Caribbean on the ncl getaway. So for my Alaska one I'm on the eos on rcl they gave me a better rate. And since I was still not ready to choose at the moment. The agent through a bunch of goodies and extras for me to book with him. Guess playing hard to get does work. Lol.

  2. I was between rc and ncl I decided to go with rc. It was cheaper since I'm a solo traveler. I'm booked at $700 pp on the first week of sep. I've looked at prices. And they've gone up to $1100 so I'm glad I booked over a year plus in advance.

  3. I wouldn't walk on an iceberg. They are famous for flipping over. The ice in the water melts and the bottom gets lighter. Your'e from WI you shouldn't worry about weather in AK. Doesn't get as cold anywhere ships go.

Lmao. I meant a glacier. Lol.

  4. I have cruised to Alaska twice. The first time, we went at the end of August into early September and the weather was beautiful. The second time, we went the last week of June and it was rainy, cold and overcast most of the time. It seems almost impossible to predict, it really is a crapshoot.

Totally agree. So to me like I said as long as I get to those things. I'll be a happy camper. I've never been. So it'll be a new a wonderful experience.

  5. Our favorite time has been end of May...luckily have always had great weather...Our last cruise which was in September...not a favorite and won't do that time again even though we were able to see the Northern Lights.

One of the high points is to see the northern lights. And As long as I get to do some dog sledding. And walk on an ice berg. It'll be a great trip for me.

  6. I've seen it go both ways. I think it just comes down to the demographics on that particular sailing and how the upgrades/upsells pan out.

Another factor, not sure if anyone mentioned, at least from what I've seen, the super cheap insides are guarantee cabins, meaning, no beverage package perk. And I don't think they offer guarantee studios, so you're going to get a perk with those regardless.

So true. Cause I booked a studio cabin on the getaway for $1300 with taxes, tips and tax/tip for ubp. For an inside it's $699 x 2 plus taxes $1600
