  1. Wow...very sorry to hear of the "decline" in service. We just got off the Dream for our first Carnival cruise, and could not have been HAPPIER with our steward. We were in a grand suite, and she was remarkable.

Room tended to twice a day, once between 9-11 while we were at breakfast and once in the evening while we were at dinner. We literally saw her in the hallways every time we left our room.

Plenty of towels, ice filled without asking, bathroom was spotless, dressing table organized, towel animals (big deal, LOL), curtains opened or closed depending on the time of day, cabin lights adjusted based on the time of day, personally fixed the tv for me (I pulled it out too far and unplugged it, LOL) and left us a personal note on our last evening.

She's the best steward we have ever had and have sailed previously on Disney and Celebrity.

    We loved Ysebel!

  2. We used three different teams for our YTD cruise last week. All seemed competent, and had such a significant impact on our experience that we felt compelled to either stick with them or request a change.

I think a bigger impact is how crowded the dining room is based on when you arrive. I would think the galley can make or break your experience.

  3. No direct comparison to RCCL, but just got off the Dream yesterday...

Have sailed 3 Disney and 1 Celebrity, both as a married couple and a family with a toddler.

For what we paid, we felt the value was INCREDIBLE. Other than dining, we felt the service was on par with Disney and beat Celebrity. We actually felt the people were nicer on the Dream than on any Disney cruise we've been on...more patient, more friendly and more respectful of one another.

I'd say...go for it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

  4. On Triumph last year I compared my premium to someone else’s value and the difference was minimal...but I keep getting premium because if I know it will bother me wondering if someone else is faster than me.

Man, I love that attitude! LOL. It's good to see someone can openly acknowledge things like this! :-)

  5. Echoing what others are saying...

To be able to experience some time with your Mother/MIL at her age is precious! I think many of us wish we could once again have an opportunity like that.

There's a special place in heaven for Sons/DIL's like you!

Next time, arrive a few days early and enjoy our wonderful city a bit more! Every weekend is a holiday in NOLA!

  6. Leaving on Sunday, and have a question about the wifi service:

Our daughter enjoys watching Youtube Kids on my ipad and/or iphone. She also enjoys the ABC Mouse app.

Will one of the levels of service provide access to those apps?

At her age, it may be the difference between the buffet and a relaxing dinner in the MDR. :-)

    Thanks!

  7. Hi everyone, I just printed out our luggage tags for our upcoming cruise this Sunday on the Dream. Looks pretty straightforward, has the deck #, cabin #, ship and sail date.

We are staying in a Grand Suite, and it also has the words "PRIORITY" written on the tags, as well as the "Faster to the Fun" logo on them.

Since I didn't purchase the FTTF package, is that just an advertisement, or am I somehow included in it because of the room I booked?

Sorry to be so confusion, but we're newbies...

  8. Hello everyone;

We are preparing for our first Carnival cruise and our first cruise out of NOLA. Since we live less than 10 minutes from the port, I'm curious as to when you think we should "arrive". We will be travelling with our 2 year-old daughter. For previous cruises, we always wanted to get to the terminal "bright and early"...but not sure that's the best idea since we have a toddler, and we are in the comfort of our own home! What time would you guys suggest? Thanks!

  9. Hello,

We will be cruising on the Dream Nov 5 with our 2 year-old daughter. This will be our first Carnival cruise. I've tried to do some searching on the boards, but felt it best to attempt to get the most current information available. I have some questions particularly about cruising with a toddler...

    1) Are cartons of milk (whole milk) available 24/7 from the buffet? Can we also get cartons from room service?

    2) I'm assuming that Carnival has a pretty standard "kids menu" available in the MDR? She's a picky eater, and for dinner prefers mac n cheese and yogurt...smh.

    3) I saw on an older thread that cribs are only available "ahead of time" for children under 2. Since our daughter is 2, but still sleeping in a crib, can we request one from our room steward upon arrival? For people with any experience with this...how much risk is there that there will not be a crib available? What is the quality and type of crib? We live in NOLA, and could bring our "pack and play" if needed.

    4) Is there a mini-fridge in a grand suite? This will make it "easier" for milk and snacks for our daughter, but not a deal breaker by any means.

Thanks in advance for your insight and opinions!

  10. Hubby and I just got back from our 2/21 cruise from the Celebrity Solstice and one night we were sitting next to a couple in the Main Dining Room, we heard the gentleman complain about the butter being on the same plate as the sauces. Each night before dinner, the waiter would give some bread and a plate with unwrapped butter and several different types of sauces or spreads for your bread. Apparantly, he DID NOT want his butter touching those darn sauces...LOL...

What I found kinda funny is the next night we were dining, we noticed that the butter was individually wrapped this time....coincidence?? LOL.......
